This thread is a little late, but it took a while to finish my detailed reports that are being sent out to Colleges.....So here goes.......

News and Notes...

-Everybody needs to watch out for Kenwood Jr F Antwan Harris. Antwan was amazing all showcase long, scoring from inside, mid-range, and in transition. He is an amazing athlete, and led all scorers with 70 points (11.7 ppg) on 35-45 FG (78%). Antwan was the "SHOWCASE MVP"....

-Harris' High School teammate, 6'4 F Mike Sampson, was also outstanding all day long. Sampson was third in scoring with 55 points (9.2 ppg), while tallying 21 rebounds and 7 assists during the Showcase on 58% shooting....

-Forrest HS's 6'6 Jr Jamar Jenkins emerged in a major way in the All Star game, garnering "ALL-STAR MVP" honors on his way to game-high's of 20 points and 14 rebounds, including 2-3 from trey-land. Jenkins is going to be a special, special player....

-The "Top Senior" at the Showcase was Howard's PG Ricky Harper, who was unstoppable going to the hoop, and has great vision. Harper led all players in assists per game with 3.5 (14 assists in just 4 games), while also putting up 25 points, 13 in the All Star game....

-Harper wasn't the only great senior PG, as Father Ryan's Joe Thompson (who I will discuss later), Columbia's Wadele Williams and Hume Fogg's Brandon Harriford also excelled. Harriford is a smooth-shooting lefty with great hops that will make a very good D-1 player. Williams struggled early, only to turn it on in the All Star game with 10 of this 16 points in the last 8 minutes, including a thunderous Alley-oop dunk that seeled the victory for the Black All Stars. Williams also added 18 rebounds, 8 assists, 4 steals, and 2 blocks for the day (all among the Showcase leaders)....

-Two outstanding Junior Surprises were Jackson Northside's PG Ramon Williams and Howard's WF Rodney Henderson. Henderson was a scoring machine as the second leading scorer behind Harris, with 45 points in 4 games (11.3 ppg), while Williams was fourth, also with 45 points, coming in 5 games (9.0 ppg). Williams is an outstanding athlete who is amazingly quick, and shoots the ball very well, while Henderson has an unorthodox game, but more than gets the job done....

-One of the major stories of the day was Father Ryan's Joe Thompson, who electrified everybody in the gym with his outstanding shooting, which put him with 34 points in just 4 games (having to leave before the AS game) for 8.5 ppg. Joe hit four threes for 14 points in one game, and had his fifth three, a 28-footer that would have won the game, waived off, called after time ran out....

-One of only two Freshmen invited, Shelbyville's DeQuan Twilley was outstanding, and was the only Freshman OR Sophomore elected to the All Star game. Twilley hit for 21 points in 4 games, but was held out of the AS game due to an injury....

-Two other tiny Senior PG's who played very well were Howard's 5'7 Sir Lee Mason, and Columbia's 5'9 Jeremy Brown. Brown was second in FG% at 72.7%, and was really impressive. Mason is so amazingly quick, it's scary. Mason hit for 17 points in the All Star game, on his way to 29 overall in four games....

-Other very impressive Seniors were Calvin Carter, Casey Holt, Cole Rose, Josh Stephen, and Everett Bills. Carter was an amazing scorer, with 42 points in 5 games (8.4 ppg, good for 6th highest). Holt put in good work, but had to leave after three games. Rose is a very good player with a pure stroke and great court sense. Stephen was a big time player, who hit 6-12 threes, and Bills was an exceptional athlete who defends very well....

-Other Juniors who very much impressed were Trai Alred, Nolan Richardson, Michael McCutchen, Desmond McGuire, Josh Artis, and Jerrell Shanklin. Alred is a Top 25 Junior who shoots, defends, and jumps out of the gym. Richardson has great handles, and an equally deadly shot. McCuthen was a great surprise, and has amazing court sense to go with a good shot and a 6'5 2G frame. McGuire is a very young Jr PG, who shot, rebounded, and defended with vigor. Artis is as cerebral a PG as you will find, and is a pure floor general. Shanklin is a great ahlete who is always around the ball, and consistently produces great results....

-The Sophomore class also had some talented Prospects, led by 6'8 Antioch Soph C/BF David Palmer. Palmer, who does have all the talent in the world, was often lazy on the court, but has the skills to be a big time player. Howard PG Allen Ray also showed very impressive ability, and lightning quick feet that enabled him to penetrate at will. Ray makes a case for himself as one of the best PG's in 2005. 6'3 WF Drake Reed showed some very nice glimpses with his size and touch, but he must get quicker. Father Ryan's Dylan Heim was also impressive with his stroke and handles, as were Posts Andrew Donald of Lebanon, who is a rebounding monster, and Thomas Pfaff of Northeast, who has a good touch to go with his size. Columbia's Xavier Carter was the only other Freshman invited, and played well at times....

-Other players who played well at times were Seniors Brent Carney, Patrick Parker, Franz Seyerle (with injured teammate Kyle Shannon), David Cotton, Cody Taylor, Mike Woods, and Jerel Jordan; Juniors Sean Bridges, Brent McPherson, Steve Gray, Chris Hartsfield, Hunter Shankle, Jeremy Lunn, Alex Renfroe, Matt Biddle, Joe Ebanks, Brian Vickers, Quincy Douglas (amazing hops), and JW Murphy; and Sophomores Michael Graham, Randolph Wright, Jordan Calhoun, Trey Hobson, Homer Britton, and Eric Wyss....

Providing information other than mostly offensive stats is hard to do. Its basically judgemental from the providers viewpoint. But at least its a point of view other than stats. Colleges or recruiters or even casual observers have to consider the source! Your doing a good service here Gomab, keep it up. Just remember there are dozens of factors (on and off the court) thats determines a players worth!
