Germantown ; Good or Lot of hype?

Germantown has one of it's best teams since they lost to Riverdale in the finals, many years ago. Their long time coach has over 200 wins. He has had 3 stretches of bad teams. First when Houston High was built, then when Kirby was built and finally Cordova High. Each which took players from his program. He has rebuilt again. Germantown is one of the largest schools in the State. Are they winning again because of their numbers or is it coaching? They have played a weak schedule in their non district games, by avoiding the private schools again. CBHS and especially MUS hold large leads in the former series. Germantown is a wishbone team that does'nt like to pass. They are big and strong and try to bully teams with their size. I expect they should make it to the semis but will encounter trouble when they face a team that can run and pass. I'm not sure they match up well with the teams from the middle of the State. That certainly has been the history the last couple of years from Region 8. I would like to know what others think?

Whitehaven was the #1 passing team in the metro memphis area and Germantown beat them by 40 so pass D is not a problem. True that coach netherland doesnt toss the ball to much but when you have a line as big and backs as good as they have you dont really need pass that much. We will see though....also a none passing houston beat JCM last year so just because ya dont chunk the rock doesnt mean you cant win against mid state foes.

For the record, it was Kirby that was built first, then Houston, then Cordova. To my best recollection, Kirby was built in 1980, Houston around 1989 or so, and Cordova opened in 1997.

I don't doubt that Germantown is one of the best teams in the state, and they should make it at least to the semifinals. JCM is also undefeated, but they play in a significantly weaker region (Bartlett, at 3-6, is likely to be playoff-bound.)

um..... yeah.... okay........ thanks to the person above for correcting the years of the break-offs. Yeah.... anyways........ Germantown's coach, Ken Netherland, has over 300 career victories. The last time that Germantown met Riverdale was in 1994... Germantown lost 14-10..... last 4 minutes. They didn't do horendously to CBHS and MUS............. although they also didn't do great. The last time GHS met CBHS was in 1994 and Germantown won like 17-7. MUS was a near tied series..... with Germantown winning in the mid-1990's.... MUS in the late 1990's.... and Germantown will be renewing a past rivalry with CBHS next season in Week 3....... so BOW DOWN..... wish we would resurrect the Poplar Pike Bowl... (MUS v. GHS)

Germantow is an extreemly good football team but they still have to play houston. Houston has won the last two times these teams have lind u and we will see this week who is the better team. the winner out of region eight will go to the championship gane and have a legit shot at winning.

Since Houston lost to a team out of region seven does that mean they are week? Whitestation might make the playoffs in your region so give it a rest. Region seven is not any weaker than eight. JCM and Germantown are both better teams than last year when Houston beat them. Germantown will beat houston tonight and if Houston makes it to the second round they will get beat by JCM.
