Well...

The big plays killed McEwen against BHR...

Kick return 30+ yards for touchdown

30+ yard run for touchdown

Fumble recovery 30+  for touchdown

HB pass for 30+ yards for touchdown

Another 30+ yar run for touchdown

No excuses from my end, BHR clearly played like the better team last night where as McEwen simply made mistake after mistake and laid down at the end of the third quarter...

Both teams face a tough match up this week with McEwen meeting up with Jo Byrns (i believe) and BHR dealing with Huntingdon...

Good luck to both teams moving forward...

So is bruceton that good or is McEwen bad? No disrespect to McEwen I just haven't been able to watch a bruceton game yet and I'm curious.

I think it's a little of both and/or a little of neither.

Bruceton has as much speed at the skill positions as any Single A team I have seen in a long time. They don't have much of a passing game but with that speed don't need it. They do have a little problem holding on to the ball. But their skill players will keep them in games and cause people problems. Defensively they will struggle against better teams.

McEwen outplayed Bruceton in the first half and should've had the lead. But they made some poor offensive decisions. In the second half the offense kept making too many mistakes and put the defense in bad spots. Eventually the defense made some bad reads and have up too many big plays. When you play a team with that many skill players you cannot make as many mistakes as McEwen made.

Bruceton will have a pretty good year. I think McEwen is a little better than they looked in the 2nd half but they have to cut down on the mistakes or it'll be a long year.

    • I have no clue if Derek tried to talk some since into his dad or not about staying here. All he is going to accomplish is going from the oven to the frying pan. If I were the coach all Ale would freze over before I set back and watched one of my good players leave without a fight.
    • If this is true, South Gibson is taking a big chance. Passing on an experienced coach for a guy who has never coached at the high school level is a high risk move, especially in that district and region.
    • Dorian Eskridge was HVA's best back, 2011
    • Jo Byrns was a very solid team last year. Imo, I thought they presented the biggest challenge for us on our path to winning it all last year. I expect them to be in the conversation and one of the final few teams playing in Murfreesboro
    • I'm not sure you understand anything if you think DB's career and AD's career are comparable.  This is a terrible take.   Not to slight AD, He was a good player and he got better as he matured after high school.   But Desean had over 8,000 yards in HS and was a two-time Mr. Football.
