Cumberland vs. MTSU and Shorter Results

Cumberland U beat Shorter 21-17. This was a great dual that came down to the final match. The team score was 18-17 in favor of CU going into HWT. Tyler Smith won on the final OT with 5.6 seconds of riding time to clinch the win. It was an "on the edge of seat" kind of match.

 

Cumberland then avenged last season's loss to MTSU with a 36-9 final score. MTSU picked up a decision win at 141 and a pin at 149. CU's Nate Croley was winning 15-3 before giving up a defensive pin in a tilt. It was a solid performance by CU. Great job to all TN wrestlers!

 

We had a GREAT showing. There were 250+ spectators. We appreciate the sport. Our next home dual is next Tuesday against Life U. The match starts at 6PM.

Looks like you really got your team well prepared! Garcia is looking very solid as he did for the finish off his senior year at McGavick HS.

Shorter had a few of their studs out for the duals, as did Cumberland.

 

We are looking forward to having 2nd ranked (returning AA) Cody Linton, 16th ranked Kirk Johnson, 2x All-American Jake Williams, and Michael Gonzalez (ranked 6th in the country last season) back in the lineup soon. Some will be back this semester, all will be back second semester.

Not sure! Upper weight wasn't what I saw the other day... Roberts and Wells were MIA for Middle as well.

 

King College could give these guys a whoppin if they don't get their lineups in order!
