Waynesboro beat Perry County tonight in a back and forth game, 14-11. The field at Waynesboro is terrible and the Vikings had a hard time adjusting to the bad hops and "quick sand" at first, but when you score 11 runs you should win every game and the pitchers didn't pitch very well, they left several balls over the plate that Waynesboro just crushed.

District Standings

Summertown- (4-0)

Waynesboro- (3-1)

Collinwood- (3-1)

Perry County- (1-3)

Loretto- (1-3)

Clifton- (0-4)

Perry County beat Waynesboro 11-5. The Vikings had 11 hits in the game and some errors that led to runs for the Wildcats but other than that a really good showing by the Vikings. How'd Collinwood do against Clifton?

PC beat WC plain and simple but i was at the game and i bet there wasn't 11 hits by both teams in the whole game!  The rest were all errors by both teams, i bet WC made between 10 to 12 errors lets be honest!  WC played awful in the field , and running bases and didnt pitch very well either!  I dont know how many times WC pitchers had PC batters 0 and 2 in the count and walked them and then a timely hit and a couple errors later PC scored a run or two!  PC made several errors as well and WC kept taking chances on the base path and PC caught them when it really counted at the plate 2 times!  Neither team is ready to win the state but there are some good ball players on both teams! Not trying to take away from PC's win just stating the way I seen it!  Sloppy play by both teams, especially WC!!!!  Good luck to both teams!!!!   "GO CATS"

Yep WC's field is terrible, and some of us have been trying to get something done about it!  You should have to practice and play on it all year!  PC should be thankful they have the field they have its not bad at all!  These kids deserve a better field than this to play on and so do the teams that come and play here!  It's a wonder someone hasn't gotten hurt bad from the rough infield and outfield!  The field is a city owned field and they won't fix it and our principal ain't going to pay to fix it!  Looks like the kids are going to have to tote the whole note if the school and the city can even agree what to do!  The kids are the ones suffering from this and they could be out doing bad instead of playing sports and these kids chose to play baseball!  Unfortunately baseball is the "STEPCHILD" behind basketball & football and its not a priority here!  I wish parents and opposing teams would complain to the city and WC's principal and maybe by some miracle they would listen!  There is a time coming that it will be unplayable and why even have it if you can't use it safely!  Back to the game, there were not as many errors in this game and both teams had alot more legitimate hits in this game! Apparentely our pitchers left to many over the plate too!

I totally agree. The Vikings have a lot of potential but they seem to just be up and down instead of being a steady solid team. The Wildcats in my opinion are pretty dang good. They hit the ball EXCEPTIONALLY well both days but on Tuesday they were lighting it up! I believe both teams will get better as the year progresses. Good Luck to all the teams!

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
