All done here in A'ville ! Played all down and distance ! White House very physical team ! But our defense held em to two long FG ! Adamsville won 14-6 in varsity ! Adamsville matched thier physical play and them some !! Had some costly fumbles and some blown assignments ! Jv was 2-2 with no kicking game ! White House will do well in 4a! Cardinals looked good at times ! Got three weeks to get better !

Big shout out to Zak Neary for making 105 man roster at Mississippi Sate !

Mississippi State added a few names to its official roster. With the additions there were also some subtractions.

Two names of note, which are both walk-ons, were officially added to the 105-man roster. Rashun Dixon, the younger brother of former MSU standout and current Buffalo Bill Anthony Dixon, was added, as well as Michigan transfer, kicker J.J. McGrath.

Dixon is listed as a 6-2, 210 pound athlete. He signed with Mississippi State in 2008 as a four-star safety. Dixon never played a down for MSU after Oakland drafted him in the 10th round in the 2008 MLB Draft.

Dixon is transitioning back to football after six season in the A's organization where he hit .242. Dixon is wearing No. 85, which suggest he'll be used on the offensive side of the ball.

Two more freshmen athletes were added in Zak Neary and John Towne. Neary is listed at 6-1, 195 and is wearing No. 19. Towne is list at 6-3, 192 and is wearing 31.

Those names missing from the original 105-man roster included kicker Cortland Daws, defensive lineman Corvell Harrison, wide receiver Javous Nicks, athletes Gavin Hunt and Cory Qualls as well as Trent Simpson.

Awesome news! Glad we aren't trying to tackle him anymore! I bet he will be starting by his Junior year. You never know, a kid like him could be like Bill Bates and end up with a long NFL career as a special teams guy! Good luck to him the rest of the year!

    • And that needs to go, Charter ,private ,magnet, city and any school that operates differently than pure public schools should be separated. What really needs to be done is address urban and rural. About all the usual powers have access to several kids from other schools period.
    • Sad deal. Hate it. So the coach that kicked her off is now fired??
    • Slightly off topic from a gender standpoint but just observed several boys volleyball games in the Knoxville area for a short spring season. The guys seemed to have a great time. There were several club players on each team but several football, basketball and tennis players involved. Knoxville Catholic, Maryville, Heritage, Knoxville West maybe William Blount had teams. Thanks to Coach Brent Carter from Knoxville Catholic/K2 for getting it together. I’m sure the coaches involved got several laughs trying to coach guys that really had no idea what they were talking about but pretty athletic and competitive. Catholic’s best basketball player told the coach he had played a lot of 2:3 and 1:3:1 but never a 3:3 LOL Maybe it will catch on with some more schools next year.
