My ex-wife was always scared to go to Harlan County(She was from Perry County). She said they were mean and didn't like strangers, Who ever goes to the game there would be well served to have an eye in the back of their heads.

There was a 1970s documentary called Harlan County USA that was real good.

Harlan County is no different than any other small rural county in the south. If a person goes looking for trouble, it will eventually find you. Harlan is full of good folks, I've hiked Black Mountain twice. The show Justified (as awesome as it is) has painted a unrealistic view of Harlan County.

I always enjoy going to Harlan. Just avoid the bad crowd. The high school is impressive. I believe I'll make the trip up there to watch the game.
