No excuses a few years back as they fell to Blackman, but ultimately came back to take another Ryan state championship. WC pulls one out with afew unexpected bonus points and keeping it close in few mismatches... WC by 5 now but with a complete and healthy Ryan lineup in February, could get ugly.

Well Sommers you were only off by 27.

Sommers...you probably need to keep your day job as predictions may not be your strong suit.  FR looked ok but they have a long way to go if they are going to get where Pat Simpson expects them to be at the end of the season.  Getting some starters in the lineup will help but they are going to really be tested at Moeller Duals, Cleveland Duals, Bradley & Powerade.

Impressive win for Ryan this early in the season. Could be an indicator of how they will end up considering they are usually half strength at this point of the season.

Unfortunate for WC considering their extensive off season prep & travel.

Congrats to Mr Simpson and crew!

Ryan better slow WC roll..

The Cats are scoring points !

Missed the match due to work.  HSDAD, you state that WC is on a roll and then you post FR wins 47-25.  Please tell us what happened between the time of your post and the final outcome.  You state the Cats are scoring points; however, it looks like it was the other way around.  Please advise.  Thanks.

If you had been watching, you would understand the post. WC was pounding the poop out of the upper weights until Hwt. Match. Then the tide shifted in favor of Ryan.

I believe that if they wrestled again in February, WC would be lucky to score over 20 pts. Just too much of a gap in skill in most weight classes. Momentum was just not a factor after the 220 match...

The individual records of the Wildcat wrestlers would be different if their team was located in the Bradley/Cleveland area. They would also be better wrestlers come "Cow Arena" time if they faced tougher wrestlers during the season. They may actually have wrestlers with less than 5-8 losses during the season coming into the State tournament that don't place.

    • I grew up watching Greene Devil Football since I could walk and still close with a lot of the coaches so should know my history pretty well lol.  Everything worked out the way it should have but firmly believe McCurry would have won some State Title if he wouldn't been let go (Greeneville still runs the same D he brought here and he let Ballard run the O and stayed out of it when it came to calling plays.  Greeneville was put out in the Semi's McCurry's last year against Maryville and the next year Greeneville stayed in 4a and was State Runner up playing were they were placed for the first time by the TSSAA.). It was definitely a McCurry and Ballard show that turned everything around along with the Community buying in and revamping the weight room and field house. Since Ballard got promoted to HC every Coach after him has been within the Greeneville Coaching staff because your right, they know what it takes to win a state championship.  Ballard was a master mine on O and what i think Greeneville has lacked since he left and let some Championships or making it to the Championship slip away over the last few years
    • Sounds like you know your area history well. Going back and looking the records were better than I thought but mostly still beating Upper East TN schools. Ballard sounds like he came/was promoted at the right time.    I do think it’s no coincidence that them keeping the HCs as guys who were former guys on the staff. Too many times schools want a “state championship” leveled coach from the outside but they don’t know the landscape. Promoting from within will help with less turnover and keep the program consistent.
    • You’re a fool if you think I have more than one account
    • Looking back they had better records than I recalled against upper East TN.  But they still took off once ballard got there. And beating other good programs
