In one of your earlier posts, you said that you hated going to school in Halls. Why? What was better about Maryville schools that Halls was lacking in? Just curious.

Halls is probably the most redneck-dominated school I have ever attended. That's saying something, considering I've been to about 7 different schools (I've lived in four different states before Tennessee).

 

Not saying they're all rednecks over there --- I still have friends from there --- but that kind of attitude is certainly prevalent.

 

Very sports-oriented as well. In fact, I think some time ago Halls hired a psychiatrist just for the football team's benefit --- they said that he was there for the entire school, but he was really there for the football players, trust me. They wanted to get any advantage that they could possibly get in football.

 

Plus, the teachers were not inspirational at Halls. A lot of times, they seemed not to really care about how their students were doing (I won't name names). A lot of times, they'd cancel classes just to take us to basketball games, which in my opinion was just stupid.

 

There are exceptions to this, as well. My art and biology teachers were very nice people and good teachers at Halls. But mostly, they were terrible.

 

The educational level of Maryville is really something else, on the other hand! There's just the feeling that they really care about your education there, and it is more of a friendly atmosphere over there, overall.

 

A fight happens all the time at Halls; at Maryville it's more of a rarity (still happens, though).

 

At Halls there were about six, seven troublemakers that everybody hated. At Maryville, if there were any troublemakers, they sure didn't do anything much on the inside of the school halls.

 

I just liked Maryville better, period.

 

Of course all these observations I just listed on here are taken from nearly eight years ago (wow, has it been that long?) so things might be a little different now at Halls. I still have some lingering bad feelings from my experience at Halls, however, and so I'm always looking for the Red Rebels to humble these Red Devils.
