VikeLiker
How does the conf look this year to everybody?
BasketballInsider37604
I would say based on last year... 1. BOONE- returning everyone but 1 key piece in Jenkins 2. DB- having the Player of the Year and another monster post should keep them in every game 3. Central- Returning most of their squad, and with a new coach might be new system 4. Science Hill- had an off year with very little talent, have a lot of good freshman coming in 5. TN- lost a lot of seniors not sure on them 6. Volunteer- New Coach, New System, Same result probably 7. Crockett- Nothing as changed.
VikeLiker
1)Boone-should be better this year than last 2)DB-clear cut #2 and could challenge Boone 3)SH-should rebound some and be better 4) Central-getting better 5)Tn High- we just not going to be very good 6) Volunteer-New coach, same players 7) Crockett- doing what they do
BasketballInsider37604
Glad to see we are on the same page. If Boone doesn't go deep into the post season...something is a miss there. They have the best team they have had in two decades. They will steam roll the league this season except for maybe DB. I just wonder if they have anything for MoWest, Bearden, Maryville, Farragut, Oak Ridge and whoever else is good in Knoxville.
VikeLiker
I would think that Boone has enough to play with those teams this year but I also thought that last year. They usually play Mo West in regular season so maybe we will see.
BasketballInsider37604
Anyone having a playday tomorrow? I wouldn't mind watching some basketball.
BasketballInsider37604
Jamboree last night was great. Crockett did not look good, they were down by double figures when I walked in. THS looked scrappy but not a lot of depth. Boone looked impressive with rolling over Happy Valley even though HV didn't look like they wanted to be there. There coach just sat there and watched. For Boone when players are throwing lobs from half court to your post, it will will be hard to stop. SH looked like a different team. They were flying all round last night. They played a style that was different than the last couple of seasons. I was talking to some of the parents and they said they lost East over the summer by almost 20 and last night they could have picked the score. Central looked like they might factor in somewhere. They were forcing turnovers left and right. Volunteer did a nice job. You can tell they are trying to learn a new system still but might be a middle of the road contender before the year is over. DB looked the part inside. Their high low is unbelievable. Whitson will be the POY again IMO. Still like my predictions from earlier. Everything runs through Boone this year and next. They will make a run to the Boro this year. Edited November 8, 2016 by TopperCrazy
WMTNTrojans
Region 1 will have some quality Hall of Fame games on Thursday night. Morristown West travels to Dobyns-Bennett in a rematch of last year's R1-AAA title bout. And Morristown East - under new head coach Michael Potts - will tangle with Daniel Boone in Gray. BasketballInsider37604
East did't seem to put up much of a fight. West handled DB pretty easy. One of their parents told me they were missing 3 starters so that might have contributed to the lopsidedness of the game. Probably wouldn't have changed the outcome. SH looked good last night. They are very fast and played lots of kids and forced quite a few turnovers from Gate City. The team looked much better than last year. Hopefully they can keep it up. VikeLiker
Does anybody have any decents games this weekend that will be worth watching?
Cruiser27
Daniel Boone is hosting several HOF games beginning around 1. DB plays Greeneville I think then South Greene plays Sullivan Central at 2:30. Not sure of the next game but South Greene and DB play at 6:30. Should be some good games.
