The last thing this program needs is a Saturday morning quarterback/idiot get on the computer and bash the coaching staff. I love high school football but I don't claim to know all the ends and outs of play calling and schematics of a game plan. I do know as I was standing and talk to some the my friends after game, you could see the heartbreak on the kids and ALL the coaches. This loss hurt them and I for one am proud to be a DRAGON fan and very thankful for the time and effort put into YAI football and this young men. I'm sure there is things he would have done different just as I'm sure Livingston would. Get behind the coaches and this team they deserve our support not our criticism.

question is...LA scored on one run play...did it matter if it was from 25 yards out or 70 yards out?  Didn't necessarily agree with call, but they instantly gave up a one play TD...3 and out is a 3 and out...doesn't matter where it is on the field.  The defense gave up the big play.

Of course it matters!!! Have you never watched football before?

Without question, one of the worst decisions I've ever seen a coach make.  He should have NEVER done that to the defense.  Although I dont think he cares much about defense, him being the "wiz" and all.

Charlie Vaughn is spinning in his grave right about now.

No I was not a Saturday morning QB, I was a Friday night QB with 1:39 to go, down by just 2, with the ball on York's own 24 yard line. When it appeared they were going for it on 4th down, everyone knew it was to pull LA offside to get the 1st down. But instead the coach needlessly gambled knowing what would happen if they didn't get it. These players have worked hard and could easily have been 3-3. I very much doubt you would find any coach who would say they would have called that play. And saying this coach needs to not gamble like this IS backing the Dragons.

I agree with you that going for it on 4th down at that point in the game was a bad move. In fact, it was a desperation move that said he had no faith in his defense.

A fake punt would of been the better call IMO since he was set on going for it.

Good post. There are many reasons coaches do what they do. I have seen some go for it in their own territory like that. If they had made it...it would have been huge. It seems some great coaches take big chances. I can't say I wouldn't have gone for it that late.

I understand bobcat fan's frustration but  the losses are coming down to  York's defense.  They are giving up too many points per game.  They just are not stopping the run.  There are many York players that played defense last year that haven't stepped on the field in a defensive position this year.  I understand the offense is a no huddle and some players would have a hard time playing both sides of the ball but that is where good conditioning and practice comes in. Every team York has played have their athletes on both sides of the ball including kick off.  York is not utilizing all their athletic potential. A loss is hard to take but it is even harder when you know that there are athletes on the sideline when they should be on the field.    I did not post this to put any players down. I think the players that are out there are playing as hard as they can.  I respect all the work that players and coaches put in, but I feel the defensive coaching decisions are the reason for most of the dragon's losses.

I don't believe that was they reason they lost...they slapped an onside kick down for LA and made several penalties late that benefited LA.  I didn't agree with the gamble, but like I said...they scored on one run.  25 yards or 75 yards...the result would of been the same.  The defense didn't even get close to a stop.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
