HCBigRed
What little got to see against MBA on defense we looked terrible. Idk what's everybody's opinion?
olddevil
What a bummer! Four plays into the MBA-HC scrimmage a lightening delay followed by a deluge ended the event. MBA scored in 3 plays to start the contest thanks to a beautiful 70 yard breakaway by their fine tailback and two short passes. HC ran one play,a 7 yard run by McCutchen, before the game was called. The HC frosh had a 3 to 1( I think) advantage in their scrimmage and looked pretty good.A really big crowd from Nashville followed their team to Paris which made the ending much worse. The Patriots needed the work and didn't get it.Now we have the jamboree to look forward to in a week. Good luck to both BIG REDS!!! MSURacer
Yeah that was a major letdown. Oh well. We've had to wait all spring and summer. I guess one more week won't hurt. Although with the way the weather has been this summer it's legitimately worth hoping the jamboree doesn't get rained out as well. Seems like it has come a storm every afternoon for a month!! I did catch the tail end of the frosh scrimmage, and it was encouraging. We look to have another plentiful and talented group over there again this year. TrojanTrain
Y'all are going to beat the crap out of Westview and feel good about yourselves. Westview is not good right now.
HCBigRed
No offense to westview fans but even if we beat them which I'm sure we will. We know what we have on our schedule with tough teams and u can't feel really good like we are the best when we have to get over a couple of huge hurdles with liberty and centennial. Not too mention other very talented teams in gallatin Dickson county. So can't be comfortable with a win vs west view. Way more improving that has to be done to compete with big time teams

Way more improving that has to be done to compete with big time teams That's one of the reasons we needed the MBA scrimmage in my opinion. Truth be told, we probably would've gotten crushed yesterday (I know, I know, scrimmages aren't actual games), but in high school football sometimes it's good to get punched in the mouth during the preseason. There is no shame in it happening against somebody like MBA, and it can be a really good learning tool for a young team with lots of potential. That said, we will overcome the missed practice and be fine. And Westview or not, I'm just ready to see this team in action. Here's to hoping for some good weather next Friday! We're getting yet another afternoon thunderstorm as I type this!! Edited August 6, 2016 by MSURacer
HCBigRed
I agree we would have gotten smoked by MBA probably. I just hope we are ready for liberty. Its going to take a lot to beat them
MSURacer
I haven't heard much about Liberty during the preseason. Apparently their numbers are down this year, but it's not like a numbers advantage has helped us the last couple of years against them. They have most of their skill guys back from last year on top of a really good RB transfer. That game hinges on what they have up front IMO. If they've taken a step back in the trenches then I like our chances. If not, then I don't.
HCBigRed
At the scrimmage I thought we looked kinda small on both lines. Am I wrong about that?

olddevil
I don't know. Looked fine to me. The Oline is one of the biggest we have ever had in both height and weight. The Dline starters are a little smaller though the nose guards approach or exceed 300 lbs.Size isn't the problem, experience is.
