  1. Elizabethton (22-0) – Betsy continues to roll along, but face a stiff challenge on Tuesday at Sullivan East. The Lady Cyclones need this win to stay on track to win the TRC.
  2. Happy Valley (17-7) – Are playing good basketball.  The Lady Warriors are holding down the third spot in the TRC right now.
  3. Hampton (13-8) – Have a couple of recent wins over Carter County rivals. Have a critical game with North Greene on Tuesday to take over second place in the WVC.
  4. Cloudland (11-11) – Had a rough week.  Has a big week with games against Unaka and South Greene this week.
  5. Unaka (14-10) – Had a rough week.  Has a big game with Cloudland on Tuesday.
  6. Unicoi County (9-15) – The Lady Devils are coming off a couple of wins.  But after Sullivan North on Tuesday, the road gets tough through the end of the season.
  7. Johnson County (2-17) – The Lady Longhorns continue to struggle having lost 16 in a row.  Likely won’t win another game this year.

Conference games become increasingly more important as the regular season winds down.  The WVC tournament is shaping up to be a street fight.  SG would be the obvious favorite, but an upset is possible.  A good team will be left out of the Regional.  The Lady Cyclones will be the favorite in the TRC tournament with Sullivan East and Happy Valley potentially being spoilers.

Please provide comments on these rankings, the teams, and/or the upcoming District and Regional tournaments.

Rankings look pretty good to me sparky.  The Hampton/North Greene game tomorrow night is huge for a number of reasons. The winner of course will get the #2 seed which is an automatic birth into the regional.

Also, if Hampton wins, there is a possibility of a three way tie between Unaka, Cloudland, and North Greene. They all could end up with a 5 and 5 conference record and if that happened, I am not real sure how a tiebreaker would work?  If Hampton loses tomorrow, then Cloudland and Unaka would play each other in the play in game of the District and the loser would not make the region (this is assuming that Hampton defeats UH).

Should be another interesting week. Hampton also plays Happy Valley on Friday which should be another good girls game.

    • Gleason all over west Carroll in scrimmage. Gleason is big and fast
    • Defending 2A state Champs Westview Lady Chargers are pretty tough. They lost a bunch of production off last year's squad but returned some talent as well. They still McCall Simms, a Tennesseee Lady Vol softball commit as well as solid talent around the diamond. I dont think they are as good as last season but they will definitely be a tough out. Huntingdon Lady Mustangs seem to be pretty stout as well. Don't know much about Riverside other than Westview defeated them earlier in regions. West Tennessee softball is pretty solid all around id say.
    • Eagleville couldn’t catch up to Jones, he did have his location issues but in that game Eagleville popped up everything and the one hit they did have could have been ruled an error. Jeffcoat was a lot sharper in the beginning of the season last year than the end. ER ran out of pitching and still was in striking distance but none the less the better team one. Last seasons tournament was A LOT more balanced and talented. South Pitts starter is a Lefty who was low 80’s but couldn’t maintain his velo throughout the  outing, their #2 was more impressive last year, we knocked him around this year and his mph was down some. Their #3 isn’t bad neither, throws a lot of strikes and sits high 70’s.
    • He actually had a really solid spring.  I could see him getting some backup snaps on offense and be a regular on special teams.  Really athletic kid who can run.
