LA beat White County last night in a game of ERRORS!  LA is good - pays attention to details and gets the job done.  Pennycuff did an outstanding job, and she had the hitters and defense to back her up - didn't need a lot of defense, she struck out 11 White County hitters.  White County's defense is like the bad news bears - maybe worse - their pitcher didn't have a chance with the defense she had behind her.  They had a total of 11 errors, who throwing errors on top of that.  Most of the attitudes of the Sparta team was pathetic - they didn't seem to want to be there - COACHES included.  Their pitcher did everything she could do to get players to hit ground balls or fly balls and their outfielders just plain ole missed balls hit to them and the infield play on second and short was pretty awful - 8 infield ground ball errors. Unreal to watch.

Would love to see LA v/s Dekalb in the Region finals. Yes Dekalb won last night but it was by no means an easy victory a 1 and 0 final in a very good game. It was defiantly not a good night at the plate for LA but the girls will be ready to fight again at the next meeting. Proud of how hard they have worked this season when many at the beginning said that they wouldn't even be in the running. I think the quote was no one even close?

LA has a good team too. I'm actually expecting to meet them again in the Region Championship. They will take care of their business on the road, and handle the Squatch with relative ease. Even though SC does have some big, burly, hairy, overgrown Sasquatch looking players, they still will be no match for LA. Look for the 10 run rule to go into effect.

Sequatchie and Livingston Academy should be a great game!! LA and Upperman split the two games they played this year. While Sequatchie lost the decision in the Crossville tournament against Upperman 2-0. Keep in mind Sequatchie had played three games in a row before playing Upperman in the Championship game. Go Indians!!!

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
