Trey Williams, recently ranked as the #8 Senior in Shelby-Metro, does not plan to play in Tuesday night's Hall of Fame game against Bartlett. This will certainly hurt the Lions offensive firepower, but I think they still have a good chance to beat a good team early in the year. Hardign will be looking for strong showings from Seniors John Bradford and Justin Jenkins, as well as Junior Adam Rodriguez. This should be a good game that many people have been wanting to see for several years now. Both teams have good coaches with very similar styles and a lot of defense. Bartlett's Coach Smith graduated as a legend in Harding Basketball, with a retired jersey in the front lobby. The game will be held at Harding in the Ellers Gymnasium. Girls JV will play at 3:30, Boys JV at 4:45, Girls Varsity at 6:00, and Boys Varsity at 7:30. Good luck to both teams and Go Lions!!!

Bartlett won 63 to 51 in this exhbition, Harding lost to Lausanne last year in the Hall of Fame game and ended up having an amazing season! Harding played many players that wont play during the regular season. The number 24 for bartlett was good and so was 23 and 34(brandon allen). Trey played well, even with the technical foul and John Bradford played really good. I was dissappointed in brennon Martin, Micheal McNutt and the other sophmores they really didnt step up. Harding is going to have to shot better from behind the 3 point line if they want have a good season, but they came back and tied the game after being down by 15 at one point so i was proud of that. Good Luck to bartlett and Harding on the begining of each of their seasons soon!

23 would be Jaycen Herring, a very good wing...who's 24 this year? I'm drawing a blank on that, and I haven't been home to see them since practice started.

What did Trey do to get a tech? Only time I think I've seen him play was when he got thrown out against Mandarin, Florida, at Bartlett last year...dunno if he has that problem much, but if he does, he needs to work on it. And soon.

I was at the game broadcasting for Bartlett. Both teams matched up very well against each other. Tre Williams lead the Lions with 18 points. John Bradford also had a great game with 15 points. The Panthers were lead in scoring by Chase Hardin with 21 points,Brandon Allen with 16 points, and Mark Martin with 10 points. Bartlett jumped out early in the 1st but Harding came right back. The score was 35-22 at halftime but,as it has been mentioned, Harding came out of the locker room fired up. The Lions out-scored Bartlett 21-10 in the 3rd makng the score 45-43 going into the 4th. However, the Panthers outscored Harding 18-8 in the 4th including two clutch three point shots by Chase Hardin. I really enjoy the relationship our two schools have and I wish Harding nothing but the very best this season.

btw..to anyone interested...You may now listen to Bartlett basketball games on-line at KPTR.COM via the resources of the IHIGH radio network.(hosted by the Bartett Skybox Crew) We hope you tune in sometime. Go Panthers!

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
