I apologize for bringing this here but the last post on the middle school board in wrestling was two months ago and I'm needing some info rather quickly.

Since the tmsaa has removed the independent game rule for the time being, we are contemplating starting wrestling at my school in which i am the AD. I understand aau runs most wrestling in this area, however with the new rules, these folks could wrestle for their school and aau clubs. Cab you give me any schools in the area that have teams or will be getting them? We are likely to start a team this upcoming year. Thanks all

I have been told that Knoxville Catholic would like to start a team.  Knoxville Webb has fielded a middle school team in the past.  The difficult thing is finding qualified coaches that want to work with middle school kids.

I can't speak for the Knoxville area.  Upper East Tennessee has had an established middle school league for the last 15-20 years.  It has been made up at times of feeder programs for Jefferson, Morristown, Greeneville, Science Hill, Tennessee High, Elizabethton, Volunteer and a few others.  I think they have expanded and split into two regions recently but have expanded the number of teams involved.  They also wrestle middle schools in Virginia and the Chattanooga area.  You can get in tough with the ADs or coaches at those schools if you want to pattern their successful models.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
