Thanks, I was shocked to see Gibbs go out early. Dobyns-Bennett played them a few weeks ago. They have a good team.

Thanks, I was shocked to see Gibbs go out early. Dobyns-Bennett played them a few weeks ago. They have a good team.

I was surprised at how much they struggled offensively in the tourney. In three games, they scored a grand total of 2 runs. Halls, who had a very down year, shut them out twice, and they were lucky to beat Oak Ridge (2-1) to stay alive on Saturday.

Agreed. 4th straight title game appearance for Powell and the 3rd in a row against Karns. The Beavers are looking to avenge losses in the last two title games. Karns has a deeper pitching staff so they probably have the upper hand (assuming there isn't a rainout), but you never know. Alford is the best pitcher in the district, and after pitching the second game against Halls last night, Powell is probably saving him for the Hardin Valley/Farragut game in the region semifinal on Monday.

Karns downs Powell, 6-0 for the district title. The Panthers never really threatened in this one. Jared Culp pretty much dominated for the Beavers.

 

Now the real challenge begins on Monday. Powell plays at Hardin Valley, while Karns hosts Farragut.
