Not to take anything away from Elizabethton because I know they have put up good numbers this year but play calling will beat CAK. Horrible offensive play calling, even when #12 was qb. 1st year head coach that shows that more than not.

I think you are referring to CAK's play calling. As I understand it, the current head coach, who has a defensive background has left the OC position with one of Bradley's former assistants, and he is calling plays. This is logical given that they have, for the majority of the year run that system "with a few wrinkles added in." Bradley's system is a one of a kind system, and IMO, the new coach only had two choices. Change systems all together or let one of Bradley's assistants call the plays. He chose the latter.

Coach Bradley was and is a great coach, but one of the few knocks on him is that he did not let his assistants (with the exception of his father) do as much as many assistants do, and therefore, I think the new OC was not really experienced or ready in regard to play calling. This showed particularly early on, but improved dramatically as would be expected as that OC got experience in an actual game. I do think a few decisions he made were very questionable, but overall, for a first year OC I think he did a great job.

If Cole smith was playing I would pick Cak since he is not I think. Elizibethton wins this one

Betsy is always tough, and even with Cole Smith, would have put up a big time fight especially without a 3 hour bus trip and playing at home. But I agree, CAK would have just been too much. As it stands, Betsy is the favorite, but I can't write off CAK by any stretch. They have adapted better than I thought they would (see my earlier post in this thread if you care to) and have a real opportunity to pull off the upset. Looks like I'm going to make the long drive and have to watch this one in person.

yea I read your qb is playing both ways now it is tough when your backup qb is one of your best players on D and you don't play him hard decision for a coach

Yes, particularly in CAK's base offense where they passed around 80% of the time IF they were not running clock at the end of a game. But with the sudden change of QB's without an offseason to get everything fine tuned, CAK at least last week threw the ball much less, and the QB at roughly 6-0 215 is a tough kid who likes contact. With him also being a starting MLB / ILB, tough decision for a coach unless its a game like this one, where you know you have to pull out all the stops to have a chance to win.

I fully expect Betsy to be ready and tough, but it was enlightening to read a few posts back about the teams they had played and beaten. I believe they are very good, but not perhaps as battle tested as they could be. This will be interesting to see how it turns out.

    • Y’all boys can’t spell discipline. Probably lead the state in personal fouls last year. Being halfway disciplined in 1 game against Smith County in 3rd round doesn’t dismiss the rest of the season. “Shoulda” won the state championship but those mouths got the best of you yet again. Marion already had a lot more retuning than y’all this year. Adding these 2 D1 kids will 100% make a major impact. Marion will stand on business this year. They haven’t forgotten. I’m just keeping it real
    • MC upgraded with 2 studs. If they can’t get it done this year with a generational speed talent in Pickett then I’m not sure they ever will. Huge favorite in the East currently.    Multiple offers from FCS calls for gold.
    • no they will be tough for sure
    • Marion just jumped ER as the favorites in the East. Two big time transfers for y’all kinfolks. Bullseye has been set now. I said it the last two years it is time and both times y’all let me down. Can’t say you’re short on talent this year or that you’re young. Time to put up or shut up. Surely y’all can get over the hump this year. I’m just keeping it real
    • Should have won by 30 last year if we played discipline at the very least. May have got 2 dogs up front but remember we have the best DL in the state on our team. Also added a 6’6” 320lb O lineman.
