HOW MANY TEAMS FROM THE WATAUGA PLAY THIS WEEK? I KNOW THAT MT. CITY IS HAVING A TIP-OFF THIS WEEKEND WITH UNAKA, HAMPTON, KNOX BEARDON, SULL EAST, AND GREENVILLE PLAYING. ARE THERE ANY MORE GAMES THIS WEEK? WHO ARE SOME TEAMS TO WATCH AND WHO ARE THE BETTER PLAYER TO LOOOK FOR?

Volunteer plays Tennessee High tomorrow night and Dobyns-Bennett on Saturday night. Next week they leave to go to the Bahamas where they will play at least four games. Tennessee High and Unaka are also going to be in that tournament.

Who is in the Christmas tournament this year at Hampton? Is the Laurenburg South Carolina team going to be back? And have they drawn for it yet?

How did the North - Central game come out?

 

Elizabethton beat Happy Valley even though they did not have three of their starters. Some of us where wondering why the football players are not playing.

 

Volunteer beat Unicoi County.

 

When I left Johnson County was beating Hampton.

The football guys (Vince Redd, Walter Brown, And Lester Bailey) have been given some time to get ready for basketball. It is smart on Coach Harding's part. Too many times the kids get "burn-out" from not relieving their mind from sports before going into another sport. Betsy doesn't play their first game until 12/6/02 and should have the guys ready by then.

Volunteer varsity boys will play DB on Saturday @ 5:30. JV will start @ 4pm.

Three teams from nnortheast Tennessee leave to go to the Bahamas tomorrow. They are Volunteer, Tennessee High and Unaka. The tournament has two pools of five teams each. That means that each team plays at least four games. Tennessee High and Unaka are in the same pool and will play each other in pool play. Volunteer is in the pool with the host team and another team from Freeport. It appears that the other two teams are from the states. Depending on how the teams do in pool play as to if and how much they play on Saturday.

Well it appears that I was wrong about the Bahamas tournament. Except for the three teams from Tennessee, all of the teams were from the Bahamas. Volunteer went 4-2 in the tournament and placed 3rd. Tennessee High was 2nd. Volunteer lost to Tennessee High and Tabernacle Baptist. Tabernacle won the tournament.

 

Tabernacle will be in the Arby's Tournament.

 

Volunteer beat Twin Springs tonight and is now 6-3. How have the other conference teams done so far?

BIG WEEK coming up next week. We finally get to see how Johnson County does against Elizabethton on Tuesday @ Elizabethton. Then on friday Sullivan Central goes to Elizabethton for round 2. Next week is a big week in the Watauga.

What other games are there to look for next week?

Central beat Unicoi County 83-55.

Johnson County beat Hampton 64-46

 

Volunteer is at Happy Valley Tuesday night and Hampton is at Volunteer Friday night.

 

The conference schedule will be getting in high gear next week. All the teams will be playing conference games most Tuesdays and Fridays until the end of the season.
