Hate to say I told you so. Refs kept the game close early. Baylor has zero depth at linebacker and with their two starters out ND was able to take advantage of it early.

42-7 before Baylor pulled starters out. ND has some good looking kids but it will take a few years before they will be on Baylor's level.

Baylor has a lot of work to do. Saw a lot of holes mainly due to injury.

ND was outmanned......Baylor rotates to many players for the Irish to keep it close...especially on a very hot afternoon like that when rotating players become a premium......though ND shot themselves in the foot in the first have with some big play opportunitys with dropped passes that would have let us survive a little longer

and the refs didnt keep squat close early......it was Baylors valid personal fouls (head shots and facemask) that kept in ealry

in case you didnt no......Baylor is a DII-A program...ND is a DII-AA program with a difference of bout 300 plus.....very very few at DII-AA will ever b at Baylors level to include your Spartans..........tho it would b nice to one day B DII-AA that would b a favorite over them

the Irish will b OK in their own classification and Spartan didnt tell anyone anything that thought things would b much different

Refs have kept this game close early.baylor has woke up,ND looks tired, but it's only 2nd qtr

not sure an illegal shot to the head and facemask would b considered the refs keepin it close.....and the Irish did plenty to themselves to not keep any closer......even though it would not change the inevitable outcome of the game....anyone that thinks the true outcome was gonna believe we were gonna defeat Baylor is way into the Drano

not once did ND decision makers hesitate when it came to schedulin themselves against Baylor for the Kickoff classic opener at Finley......nor was there gonna b any 2nd thought bout any of the other big time programs that were in the conversation if the Baylor match-up didnt work .....of course those openers u want to win and sum coaches wouldnt touch that game .....there is a bigger picture the Irish r tryin to pursue and hopefully this help more than it hurt

the Irish did some good things tonight and of course they did some not so good things; but we will b OK amondt our own kind...most fans and a lot of posters on T cant see past their noses......but, no harm no foul tonight as far as Booger sees it, especially considerin we came away only alittle banged up and a little ego bruised...tho the very cheap shot to the head in the first half by the Baylor player u say the refs shouldnt have called, could have change that kids season...

..likin our chances for a decent run at our on classification if we can stay healthy.....its gonna b a fun year

I didn't necessarily think booger was being a sore looser here although I admit it's sometimes hard to comprehend everything he is getting at.

But I am kinda surprised with the depth comment by booger. Baylor doesn't have a lot of depth. Honestly the guys who came in and played were out of pure necessity with so many starters injured and cramping. How many are on ND roster? I believe Baylor is in the 60s

When I was at Webb we actually beat Baylor. Have played them twice since and fell in a close one and lost another one handedly.

Was there a reasons ND played starters the entire game even after Baylor's JV started playing mid 3rd? Thought you could have got some young guys in for the experience.

Cameron Wynn is a slippery. Baylor's varsity did a good job containing him. Good luck to the teams covering him this season.

    • Deja vu all over again, 7 yrs apart. SMDH Does anybody talk to each other?
    • OK, well, that’s because two quarterbacks can’t start. That’s football 101. The main quarterback won the starting job, so he was on varsity, and the Seymour transfer did not win the starting job. He played some varsity. He was mainly junior varsity, and he balled out when healthy, so for the starting quarterback who’s been starting varsity since his freshman year, if you have any form of proof that he’s gotten worse, somehow, whether that means stats or whatnot, please feel free to share.
    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
