Webb at McCallie

Webb and McCallie are both coming of their first losses of the year. Webb may be without star running back a Elijah Howard (game time decision). How do you all see this one playing out?

.....Booger pullin for Webb...but thinkin its welcome to DII-AAA football...as u saw earlier this year....and 1 player dont make no difference..regardless.......thinkin S4L will have all cinda excuses

Uggggh! We were not us tonight and they were excellent. Granted we bit off quite a bit. Maybe we'll play better next week.

We could not stop the triple option at all the first half. McCallie scored on all 5 of their first possessions. Our offense did what it usually doesn. Scoring on explosive runs. Halftime score was 35-15. 

Webb lost their starting saftey mid second quarter who was taken off on a stretcher. Very very scary. 

With the serious injury and not being able to stop McCallies triple option I didn't think we would have anything left second half. 

Boy was I wrong. Webb made the adjustments on defense and cut the lead 35-22 with a chance to make it a one possession game late 3rd. Howard who just seemed a little rusty without having practiced or played in a couple of weeks fumbles and McCallie scores. At that point the game was over and Webb put in the JV as well as McCallie. 

Take aways.

1. McCallies offense takes some time to get use to. Webb couldn't stop it at all first half but made 4 of 5 stops in the second half. The one score coming off a Webb fumble to end the game. 

2. We have fight and grit. Very impressed with that. 

3. McCallie was the better team but Webb was a play away from making this a nail biter. 

4. Howard should be able to practice this week having not reagravated his hamstring in the game. Overheard him saying how he's off his game having not practiced in a couple week. He will be fine for the important part of the season.

5. Jahlil Jefferson is a stud. McCallie folks were quoted saying they couldn't believe how fast Webb was. 

6. Time to heal up and get into region play. Up first Grace Christian.

sounds very familiar to the Baylor - ND game

...... scobog boys score everytime they touch the ball in the first half and thank goodness for the opponents breathers playin so the score can b respectible

B, the injury was not because of a hit but do to an underlying, pre-existing medical issue. The end result is the same in that the boy left the game.

When a kid goes off a on a stretcher to an ambulance it appears serious. Sorry that I was not aware of anything more than that as an observer boog. Appreciate the prayers. He's a very good kid and football player. 

 

I find ND leaving their starters in the entire game after Baylor takes theirs out mid 3rd different than McCallie taking their starters out only after Webb did with 4 minutes left in the fourth. But to each their own. See you in a couple weeks!

There is at least one McCallie fan on here, but had to miss the game due to a friend's Mothers funeral service.

Teams that have not played McCallie much have trouble with the offense. The more teams play McCallie however, the more they become adept at defending the option.

McCallie is a one-trick pony this year and it will kill them when facing traditional opponeets like Ensworth, BA, and Baylor.
