Guest DocHoliday
I am writing to discuss the decision to move the Greeneville-Morristown West game to Sevier County @ 2:00 Saturday. Greeneville was notified today, Thursday, that there would be a change in venue and a change in time. In the TSSAA Handbook for football, section III D. States, "If the host school does not feel that its facilities are acceptable for a football playoff game, then it shall be the responsibility of the host school to secure adequate facilities. If additional facilities are secured, then the visiting school and TSSAA must be notified by noon on Saturday preceding that week's play-off game." Again, Greeneville was not notified that the game would be changed until Thursday morning. This does not sound like the week notice required. Is this in direct violation of the Handbook? If so, why was it allowed and what worth are rules made by the TSSAA when they are not followed? Another section in question is section III A. It states, "The first-round games in all classifications shall be played on the 11th Friday of the football season. The second round shall be played on the 12th Friday, the quarterfinals on the 13th Friday, the semifinals on the 14th Friday, and the championship games shall be played on either the following 15th Friday or Saturday." Can the day of the game be changed? It doesn't look like it. It would be understandable to play a day late due to lightning or a storm the night of the game, but I don't see the rationale behind playing the game a day late for weather that is not dangerous. It has been said that Sevier County doesn't want to have their field torn up Friday night. The field will be in no better shape Saturday afternoon than on Friday night. So why was it moved? These questions are disturbing. Who led in making this decision? What was the rationale behind it? What was the motivation behind it? Regardless of all this, great teams play great in the face of adversity. I think the Greene Devils will do just that.

Guest auntgaga
Word is that a player had been suspended and would have been ineligible to play FRIDAY night- BUT Eligible to play Saturday. HMMM,imagine that. The rules review was informative. I understand that every classroom door and a rather large banner at GHS reads, "Hey, West, Any Time-Any Place AND all had been posted within an hour of the learned decision. The possessors (of most IMAC season records) will persevere.
Guest DocHoliday
First of all, you don't know. Greeneville did not know the change in venue or the change in time until Thursday morning and that is a fact. Second, it doesn't matter whether Sevier County chose the time or not. That is not the point. The point is that the rules of the TSSAA are not being followed. These decisions do not make sense. The change in venue is understandable, but it should have been changed last Saturday or not at all. The change in time makes no sense. The field will not be in any better condition on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 than it will be Friday night. If it rains Friday night, it will still get tore up

thekeg55
This will be a good game no matter what day it is played on. A change in venue shoulden't affect anything so I do not see why the big deal is being made.

JHITE7
well maybe next time Greeneville will win and get to host it, until then...get over it and get on the bus. It would be a better situation for west to play at burke-toney, because the field would be in horrible shape(especially for receivers to run good routes) and that would play in the hands of west's running game. Because there is NO way Greeneville can stop west's running game. The thing about this is, it doesnt matter where it is played nor what time, people can find any reason to complain about anything. If this game was played in Neyland stadium in front of a packed house, someone would be offended and say it is against TSSAA rules. well you know what, the heck with the TSSAA, that organization should not be allowed to be called an organization. It is run without any knowledge or brass, but that is another topic for another day. But don't be mad with the game being moved, because that field in Mo'town can't take much more.
