Doesn't CA have two campuses? One in Columbia and Spring Hill? I have also heard they bus to several counties in and around Maury Co. Is this true?

Yes CA does have two campuses but a student athlete must attend the Columbia campus to play sports.

Yes CA does have buses that travel to a couple surrounding counties. This is at the extra expense to the parent. *Out of county students can & do attend Maury County Public Schools for an extra expense to the parents.

Does MP, Hampshire, Santa Fe, Culleoka or any other school in Maury Co send buses to multiple surrounding counties to pick up students? Or do they just draw kids in their 8 to 10 mile radius?

Buses - No

MCPS drawing kids from over 8 to 10 miles radius - Yes

Lawrence County and other counties kids can and do pay extra $ to attend & play sports for Maury County Public Schools

Kids from Santa Fe playing at Hampshire, Columbia kids playing at Mt. Pleasant, Culleoka kids playing at Central, Columbia kids playing at Hampshire, etc.... it's happening!

Parent(s) from Columbia can and do transport kid(s) to Giles County where they play sports

For one reason or another Its all allowed by TSSAA, which is the only thing that really matters. It won't stop until it's not allowed by TSSAA for any school (public or private) to do it.

Yes

Ok, ya'll keep on justifying it like the privates did in Nashville for years. If ya'll feel like ya'll are in your christian rights and feel 100% sure you aren't cheating then proceed. Just remember perception is reality when you crush a Hampshire or Sante Fe. I know because of my christian beliefs my kids will never take one step on that campus.

I agree 100%. When a kid is on the free lunch program at a public school, it just seems shocking that their family is somehow able to afford $8,000 for yearly tution and they just happen to be a great athlete too? Anybody with a brain knows what's going on. Most people don't realize this isn't the first time that public schools have chosen not to play Columbia Academy. It happened in the mid 90's when they allegedly recruited basketball players from Hohenwald.

Again, they fired their Jr high softball coach last year after recruiting allegations surfaced. Coincidence of timing? I think not. It's okay though because their time is coming. The TSSAA will force them to move to Division II here in the near future and join school just like themselves.

I find it absolutely hilarious that a private school who refuses to join the TMSAA, a private school who BUS in kids from outside the county, wants to blame the public schools who cannot BUS kids in from other counties. Keyword BUS. Instead, they want to play the poor, pitiful victim. It's comical.

Will they win the region like they did in the district? Absolutely.  Will they win sub-state and return to Murfreesboro? Absolutely. Will they choke and lose in the state tournament again? Absolutely. Congratulations. You won a district, region and Sub-State against all public schools (who don't BUS in students from other Counties) and not a single school like themselves! I mean why would they want to leave Division I? They have it made right where they are at....but they're the poor, little victims in all of this.

CA won. Get over it. Play better competition. Work on skill development. Develop an interest in your programs. Start the kids at a young age. Stress fundamentals. Spend the time you are griping, fussing, comparing, etc. and use that time in the gym and see where it gets you.

CA won- I'm over it

Work on skill development - Done

Interest in program- Done

Start kids at young age- Done

Stress Fundamentals -Done

Spend time in gym- Done

Now all I need is my PUBLIC school to purchase a few small buses to send to a couple of different counties and Spring Hill to shuffle in student athletes and then and only then we are all on a LEVEL playing field!

Summertown’s athletic program is comparable to CA without all of the “benefits” you mention.  They appear to have DONE it much better than you,

How can you compare a private school who buses students from outside it's own county to a public school who doesn't? How does that work? Because they've won 22 games this year? They were 15-13 last year and CA was in the final four of the state. Summertowns record last year was almost identical to Mt. Pleasants this year. Summertown also refused to schedule CA in basketball this year along with Richland and Maury County Schools. Is their football comparable? Not even close!

    • Im pretty excited about the new rules that NFHS voted to adopt. Does anyone know if this will take place in Tennessee starting this year? I think I heard/read somewhere that the TSSAA bi-laws say the have to mirror what the NFHS does, and when the NFHS offered the current weight classes as options, TSSAA didn’t adopt them until NFHS made them official. Did NFHS make these changes official starting next season or will it be similar to the weight classes where TSSAA doesn’t change what they are doing until it is  an officially official part of the NFHS rule book? It’ll be interesting to see if it is rolled out for the new TSSAA Middle School season and I saw a post where the youth wrestling in TN was going to vote on adopting it as well.  I’ll pray for all the youth coaches that will have to shoulder the confusion from all those crazy #### parents who already think they know the rules more than everyone else  . Imagine the first time their kid is taken down and a 3 goes up on the scoreboard or their kid gets pinned with only one point of contact in the cylinder. Their heads might explode. i kid, I kid. Sort of. I’m surprised ride time was brought down with all the other changes. I know some argue that it promotes stalling on top, but its been an official scoring method in college forever, so I figure it must be doing something right. Do any of you think that’ll ever be implemented?
    • Crazy how the thread just gets deleted when facts come out.
    • I understand I guess it depends on the school you are with and the time you want to put in.  It’s evident of the schools that don’t put in as much times.  I would say basketball players put in as much time as any sport in our school system and this is coming from a football town.  Bball is a longer season than other sports.
