CCS @ Webb

Just fixing to head to Knoxville.

Every Friday, I'm hopeful that CCS will open things up on offense and do something different. Unfortunately, I think we're in for more of the same.

So ... we need 4 perfect drives and put 28 points on the board. That still might not be enough, but anything less than 28 I don't think will be enough.

Safe traveling to everyone.

Same old, same old.  Last game at CCS for my family.  Wish that I put my son in a different school.  The last 2 years really hurt us.  I hate to see coaching ruin a kid’s desire to play at the next level, even when he is being recruited.

Hope your son can continue his playing career. What’s his #?

I caught some of the game online after. It just seems Webb has too much team speed this year for CCS. The Chargers did make it more interesting this time around than the earlier matchups Webb needs some young guys to step up with the injury bug plaguing them after Silverdales mudball field.

The game really wasn't that close at all. If CCS didn't have 2 good kickoff returns (1 for a TD), they probably would have only scored 7. I'm not counting the last TD for CCS when Webb had their entire 2nd Defense on the field and CCS kept their starting O in.

Next round will be interesting for the remaining East teams ... Webb missing one of their best backs, ND trying to play without a QB.

Sounds like ole Booger’s going wildcat for the Wynn!

You’d know better than me as I wasn’t in attendance. What school would you have sent your son to if you could redo it? Move to Knoxville and play with the Spartans? Haha.

He would have fit well at Webb (beautiful school).  Probably would have been better off going public near us.  The main reason for him staying at CCS was the Christian values.  Silverdale may have been a better fit all around.

CCS is better than Silverdale and Boyd football wise. He may not have liked that.

Webb is a very nice school. If you’re son is a lineman we could have used him! Haha.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
    • No movement on Chester? South Gibson? Gibson County?
    • Winfree's senior year was the season she needed to secure more college interest. That opportunity was taken away from her. A lot of false assumptions can be made about what happened and what the options are. Unfortunately, the former coach and administration did not allow Winfree to have due process. A lawsuit was filed for a reason, and it will run its course by people who conduct discovery and take depositions. Unless the parties settle out of court, a lot of the pertinent issues will come to the public surface. I wrote about many of the issues here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/11/17/grounds-for-investigation-and-suspension/ I interviewed Winfree after she was dismissed from the team and wrote about it here: https://bdnewsletter.news/2023/12/01/a-new-interview-with-sable-winfree/ Winfree had been on teams in Warren County since the fourth grade and never been dismissed from a team. The real questions are why was Winfree dismissed from the team, and why the administration backed a coach whom they did not rehire.
