Nothing can be done if the kid or kids played in the games. Prep didn't do what was necessary to make the kid eligible. No kid can transfer to Prep and play without sitting out 12 calendar months if they played for another school in Memphis. The kid in question played at Fairley last year.

look I can’t tell all the secrets but there’s you one clue

i have 2 more 

be glad that they are going to get their wins back and the kid is going to be eligible 

This is about the kids this could change their lives we all should get behind them and   Support all kids

every school in the state has mess up before but this time it wasn’t a schools fault

Bus route does not change the fact the kid from Fairly did not sit out 12 calendar months. Freedom Prep played him anyway therefore he is not eligible. A kid cannot play sports for Prep unless he sit out 12 months. Pretty cut and dry.

I'm going to clue you in to what TNescapegoat is talking about. The CA posted an article concerning this. I posted the article in another thread, I will post it in this one.

Freedom Prep forfeits seven games over ineligible player

A Class 1A state title contender is being forced to forfeit seven games after using an ineligible player, according to a letter to the school from the TSSAA obtained by the USA Today Network-Tennessee.

Freedom Prep started the season 7-0 and had outscored its opponents 319-7. However, the TSSAA ruled Monday that the school used an ineligible player, forcing the program to forfeit all seven wins. 

The school then beat B.T. Washington on Monday night 34-12 to improve to 1-7.

The player initially was ruled eligible by TSSAA, but the information provided by the school's administration was determined to be incorrect. 

"The student was entered in the TSSAA Portal by Freedom Preparatory Academy as a student that, is attending your school because of (1) a rezoning of an existing school district, OR (2) rezoning due to a new school, OR (3) a change in bus routes that affect where the student attends school. This affirmation would have made him eligible, by rule, but was not correct," the letter states. 

In a statement to The Commercial Appeal, the school said it plans to appeal and is "contesting the matter due to what we believe is a hardship case for one of our students."  

The Eagles are now 1-5 in Region 8-1A with two league games left and will miss the playoffs. At least four schools in the region are guaranteed to win at least four games in league play. The top four teams from each region make the playoffs.

East and Middle College are 5-0 in region play. B.T. Washington is currently 4-3. MASE is 4-1.

The school also is being fined $100 for each game the ineligible student played in, totaling $700. It also has been asked to write a letter notifying the schools that the ineligible player competed against what happened. 

 

According to TSSAA bylaws, the ineligible player will remain ineligible for twice the number of games he participated in while ineligible or the remainder of the season, whichever is shorter. With just two games left, the latter is more likely.

Sorry I have read that article and nothing has changed that would help Freedom Prep. The kid still played for Fairly last year and Prep could have fixed the problem before the season started and didn't. The TSSAA will probably not come off of the forfeits because Prep didn't do their part on the front end. Good luck to them. If I was a region opponent of theirs I would appeal if the TSSAA did over turn it. It's not fair to them.

The red portion is the caveat. If it is applicable, and in this situation thay are saying that it is the case, then it doesn't matter if he played at Fairley last season, he's eligible.

No I don't. Its deeper than that. They should have reported the move before the season. It's that simple. I'm sure other kids across Memphis have the same issues and probably done the correct thing from the get go. Freedom Prep has something come up about them every year since joining the TSSAA. They differently are a win at all cost school with poor leadership. You here more wrongdoing by Prep than any other school in Memphis. They need to take a page out of Whitehaven book and do things the right way.

Freedom Prep did their due diligence before the season began. The FP administration submitted the necessary paperwork that the TSSAA requires when it was due. They did their part.
