So your saying there’s a chance?

I stumbled across (perhaps?) the last meeting between TCA and NCS on YouTube from 1994. My eyes are watering from the poor video quality. I was #72 on NCS and just as slow as I remember. This would have taken place on the old campus off Westover and likely one of the first years TCA played varsity football. It was a turnover-laden battle between two not-so-great teams and TCA prevailed 20-13 when a late red-zone fumble by the Eagles sealed the deal. If you value your eyesight, I don't necessarily recommend watching, but it was a nice stroll down memory lane for me. I tried to pick up on some names from the announcer, but only caught a few. The TCA punter/TE/LB is Todd Seabrook, now a local anesthesiologist. Not sure I recognized any other names. Perhaps this throwback will be a good omen and the Lions can remain undefeated in the series (I think).

Interesting. I have records that show TCA last playing NCS on November 6, 2003. TCA won that game by a score of 3-0. It was some type of bowl game as the TCA record that year was 6-5. I was under the assumption that this was the only game between the two schools. Of course, I only have access to records going back to 2001 and even some of those records are sketchy.

Without going into detail, NCS as a school went through some really tough times in the early 90s and enrollment dropped greatly as a result (just over 200 students K-12). The football team was winless for 2 straight years, 91-92, and scoured the state looking for teams with which we could compete. TCA had just started the football program and as you can see from the final score, it was a pretty good matchup. I can't remember if we just played that one time or if they came to us the next year. NCS righted the ship and by 1997 made it to the state quarterfinals. Life got in the way and I didn't follow them through the 2000s, but apparently there was at least one more meeting between the two in 2003, as you mentioned.

    • And can you tell me who those two quarterbacks were, and every kid that was put into college from Bearden is a Bearden kid? It’s kind of why they graduated from Bearden.   and I would definitely not consider ETSU “waste”…
    • Most of this is complete gibberish. But the one part I could decipher is putting kids in college. This coaching staff hasn’t put a single Bearden kid in college. They completed wasted one of the best WRs in East TN and have ruined two talented QBs. All because they’re in over their heads.
    • Well, I’d hope the new coaching staff thinks they are all that because they can always walk around the school, anytime they want, thinking that, especially for what they’ve done for the student athletes and the players, putting more kids in college in his first season than the old coaching staff did in numerous years combined, but we will just sweep over that because I know you don’t like facts. But trust me, nobody wanted Mr. Big britches, made the star player switch to quarterback, which is ultimately the reason he ended up transferring to play the position. He loved, but unfortunately, had to be at another school because Mr. Big Britches doesn’t like when a teenager knows more than him, but can’t expect much coming from a guy who used all class throwing pencils up into the ceiling and making fun of football kids who were failing class right to their face, and in front of numerous students, even projecting on the board most of the time.
    • After that first paragraph, I can see why you’re a TA and not a teacher. Have you made the move from South Knoxville to Bearden yet?    Maybe he left because he is an actual teacher and coach, and didn’t want to be associated with a group of foul mouthed middle school coaches who like to pretend they’re big time.
    • Yeah and the coach is gone. Whole bizarre situation here. We played them a couple of times at MTSU last few years. She was a player for sure.
