  1. You provided a link to a message prompting you to pay to read the article you are talking about. hat is such a jackwagon thing to do
  2. According to his own Facebook account, Tony Shutes had resigned at JCS.
  3. Former coach at Lambuth. Had a deep tournament run with them. Great mind for the game.
  4. Instead of a shot clock, how about teams that are having keep a way played against them simply get more aggressive and play better defense. Knock off the "if I can't beat it, legislate against it" theme. Bet you want to give trophies to everyone too.
  5. State Senate is a bunch of morons. and Jack wagons.
  6. Most may disagree, but I say in the case of these giant blow out games (100+ to 10) for finals etc, the officials should rule the game as complete at half time. If it's 70-5 or something else like that at the half the merciful thing to do is stop the game and rule it final.
  7. does this transfer has to take place by a certain grade level or can the athlete take it at any time
  8. The state legislature needs to stay out of the TSSAA and start managing state business.
  9. In our case we are the #2 from the west and we will host #3 from the east at middle region #2, BGA. It is allegedly set up this way to cut down on travel for the east team. The side effect is our travel will now increase. Another consequence is that W3, who is in Memphis, STG, will host M4, Webb School, from Bell Buckle in Memphis. That driving distance is approximately 260 miles one way. The driving distance for our opponant from Chattanooga, Boyd Buchanan, to come play the game at our gym in Jackson, TCA, like they should, is approximately the same distance as the team in Bell Buckle will have to travel to play in Memphis one way. This scenario makes no sense in any logical manner. There is no way the TSSAA can logically justify this. It's just dumb.
  10. The TSSAA policy for scheduling some D2 playoff games at neutral sites is rather flawed and needs to be thought out better.
  11. As far as the one time transfer deal, that is dead in the water unless it's voted in through legislation at state level. Concerning vouchers, I can see some private schools refusing to accept them. Reason being is that I bet the fine print has rules the privates will have to go by to get the money. Some privates can understandably not want the state dictating what they can and can't do. Jmo
  12. Call your state representative and demand that they stay out off TSSAA business and start concerning themselves with much more important matters. There is no need for the TSSAA to enact some new transfer rules. High school does not need to be like college. If a high end athlete transfers it is also sure as heck not for better educational opportunities. If an athlete transfers it is 99 percent positive that the said transfer is for purely athletic reasons which are supposed to be illegal unless there is a legitimate change of address.
  13. I kept getting interrupted and did not see much. Am I to take it that nothing passed today?
  14. If a private school accepts voucher students they would most likely have to give up control of how they run their school. I don't see many private schools wanting to give up control of their schools to a government agency. I don't see the voucher program greatly boosting the student populations off most private schools. I forsee several privates even refusing to take vouchers. Also, this possible goofy one time free transfer rule could very well upset the competitive balance. It could very well cause some programs to shut down. A team with a few good athletes but low overall student participation would be severely affected when the local richy rich school raids a smaller schools talent base
  15. If this passes, the TSSAA will have enabled the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. This free transfer rule is BAD for high school sports. It will be the beginning of the end. Club teams will some day end up being the new norm and take all the quality talent.
  16. Interesting. I did not know about this. Doesn't appear that any of the proposals will pass based on what schools are saying. But with the TSSAA you never know. Hope I can tune in to watch.
  17. The special legislative session has ended. The one time transfer rule was not even brought up. As of right now, it's dead in the water for the time being. I know of one school who got a kid to transfer thinking the rule would pass. That kid would have not been able to play anyway as he transferred before a vote was taken which did not even happen. That coach gave a young man some very bad advice indeed.
  18. Anything is better than the absolutely awful NFHS.
  19. If students can transfer as many times as they want it will be a wild West show. Richy Rich schools will promise kids the moon and they will fall for it. There are already schools out there getting transfers before a law is past. I know one kid who has already transfered. If the new law does not pass the kid is screwed cause there is no TSSAA regulation that would make him eligible with what he has done. The young man has gotten terrible advice from people at one certain Richy Rich school. Pass this rule and you are basically throwing away the rule book. Many schools will be hurt
  20. This bozo, along with the rest of the state legislature, need to stay out of TSSAA business. Sounds like this coach/legislature is simply trying to help his own teams cause. There are already rules in place for kids who want to transfer. It's not that hard. Just follow the rules. And to the TSSAA, grow a set and enforce the rules on the books. High school football does NOT need to be like the college game.
  21. you see it already with other schools, not just Alcoa.
  22. IF the bill currently in the state legislature passes, the one thing that will for sure happen is that the rich will get even richer. This proposal is a very bad idea.
  23. There are already rules in place which allow student to transfer. We don't need further rules to muddy the waters
  24. So certain schools can buy up the talent? If this passes, bad things will happen to high school sports as we know it. Inner city public schools will be devastated. Small privates will be hurt as well. There are already rules in place for a kid who wants to transfer to another school. There is no good reason for high school athletics to turn into a wild west recruiting show.
  25. Living where you live, I just realized how you were able to watch it on Channel 30 out of NashVegas. I like how you stuck to the man. Well played sir. Well played indeed. I took notes.
