I went to states and watched him last year in the finals. I don’t know if he gets beat this year or again in a high school season. If he does the kid will have to be a stud.

Elizabethton is supposed to wrestle at Avery on December 5 but I think they’re gonna move it if we move on this week.

That should be interesting. Avery has a good chance to win it all this year. Might have 8 kids that could win state. How many Elizabethton football players wrestle. I wrestled at Avery back in the day.

I believe there are 9-10 this year. That’s the most we’ve ever had that played football as well. We have one returning state champ and probably 3-4 more capable of doing it. We are preseason #4 in the state.

That’s cool. I try to keep up since Elizabethton is the closest with wrestling. Avery has 3 defending state champs. One is going for his 3rd at 138. They have a sophomore at 220 that won it as a freshman and placed 2nd in the high school nationals in the freshman division last year. One returning state champ as a freshman is hurt right now. 2 kids that have finished 2nd in states at 120 and 195.Avery is loaded this year. What weight is Elizabethton returning champ at.

195. He is a junior this year. He has worked out with Avery’s 220 before. He said he was a beast. Our 113 placed second and heavyweight placed fourth or fifth last season.  They are both seniors this year.

I just think weight room accountability at Elizabethton is higher. You could skip the weights at Cloudland and still start I don't think you could at Elizabethton. Same as academics if you want to learn at Cloudland you absolutely can but also if you are a athlete and want to slack and get by you can. I did.

You always have a few like yours who are willing to put in the work and do it right but that's not the case with the majority I don't think. You are closer to the program and know more of what it's like now than I do.

About the academics, you can get just as good of an education from the county schools but you have to be willing to work for it, Elizabethton may offer more but you still have those teachers that let the athletes slack off.

Yeah I'm sure you have a few of those teachers everywhere. Its just what's best for you and yours. It has worked out good for my brother and his kids but that's not always the case I know county kids that tried it and ended up coming back.

    • Great to meet you too.  We're going to work hard to get back.
    • I extend my gratitude to ManCoverage for initiating this discussion thread tailored to the residents of Trousdale County. In times of adversity within our football team, it is imperative to have an outlet for expression, and what better platform than CoachT's Craigslist forum? I respectfully request that GOAT exercise discretion in his commentary, as his remarks have caused me personal distress.
    • I am inclined to wager a substantial portion of my financial assets on the likelihood that Waggoner shall transition to an alternative coaching vocation prior to the year 2028. It is my contention that discerning individuals are beginning to perceive his coaching prowess as lacking in the requisite excellence. Allow me to articulate the following assertion: Waggoner represents a markedly superior choice compared to the individual who perpetrated the act of fuel theft.   This individual exhibits a conspicuous propensity for frequent professional transitions, a trait which undermines his credibility and renders him an untenable choice for serious consideration. It is indeed confounding that his candidacy continues to garner attention and support.
    • Yeah same   It’s definitely true that tough times make tough kids, but some kids just have a big passion for the game and will become the best of the best no matter where they come from.
    • Hope you enjoy it King and good to meet you at state this year. Good luck to the Lady Landers. Keep battling.
