Who wins the district this year.  This is how I see it shaking out

1.Creek Wood

2.Stewart Co.

3. East Hickman

4. Camden

5. Fairview

6. Hickman

7. Lewis Co.

8. Waverly

I got a lot of questions and could see a lot of these predictions going up and down 1 or 2.  The district is not as lopsided as it once was.

I don't know how many players Creekwood lost to graduation but I agree with you they will be favorites starting the season. The teams you got listed 2 through 6 should be pretty evenly matched. East Hickman has most of their starters back. Hickman County will have a new point guard, and a lot of their success will depend on how their sophomores step up. I agree with you the district has become more balanced.

I figured East would be solid with everyone returning.  I wonder if they will stay with their same style under a new head coach.  If I recall, their new coach was on the the previous staff so I imagine it will be similar.

Fairview has to be the big surprise so far to me , I didn't see them tied for the top spot in the district. They and Creekwood still have to play again. I think Creekwood will win the district and Fairview and Stewart Co. will play for second place.  It looks like Camden, East, and Hickman Co.will fight for fourth place and home court advantage in first round of district tournament.

Congrats to the Fairview Yellow Jackets on winning the 2020-2021 Regular Season District Championship.

District Standings

1.)  Fairview (12-1)

2.)  Creek Wood (11-2)

3.)  Stewart County (9-4)

4.)  East Hickman (7-6)

5.)  Camden (5-8)

6.)  Hickman County (5-8)

7.)  Waverly (3-10)

8.)  Lewis County (0-13)

Fairview will host Lewis County in the #1 vs #8 seeded contest.

Creek Wood will host Waverly in the #2 vs #7 seeded contest.

Stewart County is the #3 seed.

East Hickman is the #4 seed.

Camden and Hickman County have identical records in the district and the Lions swept the Bulldogs during the regular season which gives them the inside track to the #5 seed.  The #5 and #6 seeds are still to be determined though based on results on the final night of the season.

    • They’ve both gotten worse. I’ve seen enough games to know that.
    • The only two transfers that Bearden has gotten that went on to play college football were a defensive back from Karnes, who transferred here way before the new coaching staff got here, and a running back from Carter, who went on to play at Maryville College. Both players received those offers while at Bearden, and both players got a diploma from Bearden High School. Therefore, they are Bearden kids, and you can’t do anything about that.   The transfer from Seymour didn’t win the job, what do you expect two quarterbacks to start at the same time? He played great on JV when he could stay healthy, and when he came in on varsity, he did great. The quarterback position is definitely going to be in good hands when the current starting quarterback leaves, but until then, they’re just going to be battling it out like every good quarterback competition does. The current starting quarterback has his flaws, and that is in the pass game, but what he doesn’t have flaws is running and scrambling, and if you go back and watch any game, which I’m sure you didn’t watch any, we used him very often, and when we needed a deep ball, we brought in the transfer from Seymour. The starting quarterback last year will be a senior this year, and the Seymour transfer will be a junior, so the Seymour transfer is definitely going to get his spotlight. He may even win the job this year. Football isn’t about who the newspaper thinks is the best kid. The best kid in the position will win the starting job, and I trust the coaching staff more than a newspaper or article to pick my starting QB.
    • I mean, we’ve only gotten two transfers that went on to play college football, one who went to UT Martin came his second semester junior year before the new coaching staff was here, and the other one went on to play at Maryville College, in which I don’t believe he had any interest prior to transferring.
    • An FYI: To see how an opponent has done against another opponent since 2001- go to the game by clicking on one of the teams. Click the G beside the game. For example, Milan: The info will show you the previous matchups and other info.
    • All these college signees went yo other schools for 3 years, were getting college offers then transferred to Bearden. It’s not like this staff did much to develop them.    The BBall coaches son and the Seymour transfer were some of the most talented QBs in the region, and you guys developed them into QBs who might complete one pass a game.
