2021 Region 2 4-A

Recommended Posts

South Doyle beat Anderson County last year, was a 5A semifinalist and returns a lot including a possible Mr.Football candidate running back Gary. They have to be amongst the favorites in 4A.

Fulton also comes back down to 4A. Last time they were three they were a domaine program.

This will be a competitive division.

Should be a very competitive region for sure.

I see it finishing:

  1. S-D
  2. Gibbs
  3. Fulton
  4. Carter
  5. Scott

AC would be 1 or 2, but I heard they were getting hit with a post-season ban after being turned in for actively recruiting Halls-zoned players. Anyone else heard anything? Been going on up there for a long time, from what I've been told.

Fake News Corry, good try though.  AC is loaded again with skill , we will see if they can do anything with it.  They have been in Chattanooga, and have won big there.  East Hamilton and East Ridge will give most 4-A teams fits, and just because AC won big,  people said AC wasn't playing anyone.   The Chattanooga region has some good football and you will see it now that AC is out of their region.   AC has been good, not good enough to beat Greeneville, and only Elizabethton has pulled that off.  AC  lost to SD by one point on the last play of the game after being up by 14 for most of the game.  Fulton, Gibbs Carter all good teams and this will be a competitive region.  Don't think AC won't be the favor to win this region, and don't think they will be down talent wise or you will be in for a shock.  AC has a returning QB, RB and all the skill a coach could want.  They will be a team that can roll in skill players throughout the game and wear teams down.  They have maybe the best 4 linebackers in the area.  Most started as sophomores last season, and all return.  The Mavs have some work up front to do, but I can assure you they will find some guys up front to take care of that.  They have zero halls players, and aren't under any post season ban. lol  Go Mavs

We have the toughest region in the state

Anderson county although good has had like 7 or so chancces and already had their chances in 4A

The Mavericks playoff streak is in very serious jeopardy

I think it will come down to the 4 knox county schools (Knoxville Fulton, Gibbs, Carter and South-Doyle) for the Region, and any of these 4 teams could win the 4A Gold Ball, also one could argue these are the 4 best teams in 4A!

Anderson County returning to the playoffs is very far from a guarantee

But no doubt about it this is the toughest region in the entire state

1 Fulton (3-2, 8-2) - State Champions

2 Gibbs (3-2, 8-2) - 2nd Round

3 Carter (3-2, 8-2) - 1st Round

4 South-Doyle (2-3, 7-3) - 1st Round

5 Anderson County (2-3, 7-3) - Miss Playoffs, Possible Bowl Game(s)

6 Scott (2-3, 7-3) - Miss Playoffs, Possible Bowl Game(s)

    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
    • I would not put too much stock into the UH over Eagleville. From what I understand they were pretty banged up in that tourney. Catcher was out, they were throwing pretty deep in their bullpen and a few key players were beat up in their infield. Sounds like they are pretty healthy heading into the district tournament. Look at their schedule, they played some really good teams.
