Davidson Academy @ Boyd Buc

Pretty sure the  QB was out with illness/exposure/quarantine. Would be interested in seeing how the game may have looked different but that is the way it goes. Plenty of positives though from the game, none more than a freshman QB throwing for over 300 yards and a couple td's. Obviously the interceptions really hurt but for a young kid like that to come in and play against that level of competition is a positive. I have heard from a number of folks around the program and other coaches who have seen him mention that he may be one of if not the best to come through BBS. Time will tell.

Defense looked to be tough and still lots of skill players to make plays. Hopefully the QB situation works out in Boyd's favor. Davidson is a great team and if not playing in the middle division might be the district champion in the east or west...not sure anyone has a shot at competing with Lipscomb or CPA.

I do not look forward to playing CPA or Lipscomb. I believe we can play with everyone else but those two are leaps and bounds ahead of us.

    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
    • Maryville will recapture the loses from last year against West, Bradley and Farragut. The Bearden game will be the tough one but I look for the wheels to come off that ride somewhere down the road because of all the crap that goes on there. I know to many parents there and some of the things I've been told and some of the post a few of them have made on facebook. They all can't be liars.
    • If Heritage moves down and Alcoa moves up the best thing for Heritage is to do what William Blount did when theystopped playing Maryville or meet certain defeat. Honestly can't see Alcoa not moving up the way the county is growing. Might be in the Mountaineers best interest to stay in 5A because none of those teams on their schedule are anything close to Alcoa.
    • I say over as well. Barney, regarding the move to 4A, will the cross-town blowhards move up as well??
