Congratulations to the Lady Dogs on a big win over PC last night and for capturing the regular season district champs.

Just looking at your Region. Jo Byrne’s I have heard rumbling about. Clay County had a good squad at state last year. I was suprised that Gleason beat y’all the way they did. Whoever wins District Tournament will be paired up likely with either Pickett or Clarkrange in the 3 seed. Ought to be good.

So you expect RBS to finish 2nd?

RBS beat one of the three didn’t they?? I was thinking either Pickett or Clarkrange whoever loses that semi matchup could possibly be a tough 3 or even RBS. I am thinking the 2, possibly Pickett or Clarkrange, whoever it may be may be, may be in better shape with an easier path depending on their Region. Let’s say Clay beats RBS, Pickett beats Clarkrange and Clay beats Pickett. Let’s say Clarkrange beats RBS. Means Clay is in bracket with Clarkrange and Pickett is with RBS in Region. RBS could be tough. This is just speculation, but as possible loser leave town matchups would have Clay and Clarkrange playing and say a Pickett vs RBS or say a Jo Byrne’s. We have seen this before in this District when there are 3 good teams the second place team some times gets a better draw.

RBS beat Clarkrange twice already and finished 3rd (they almost beat Clay also).  Anyone of the 4 teams  could finish anywhere in the the district tournament unless Gordonsville beats Clarkrange which is highly unlikely.

I always thought if a Regional was a clean sweep they should reseed it and have the 4th and 1st play. Teams have been caught throwing consolation games before because of the Regional brackets.

Didn’t know they beat Clarkrange twice. Knew once. I need to start looking at schedule. Sounds like it is pretty wide open. I have witnessed some thrown consolidation games. Not as bad as the Riverdale one 7 or 8 years ago, but I have seen a few.

In a tough district with 4 capable teams it’s hard not to think about tanking if you know the other districts top team isn’t going to pose a threat even with a home substate game. It’s all about matchups and coaching at that point. Before Jackson County left single A I witnessed plenty of teams throw games in this district/region tournament throughout the years and I can’t say it’s a bad strategy.
Clay county is playing inspired as of late and is by far the most experienced team in the region. Pickett and Clarkrange finally hit their growing pains stage, but are both still capable any night. RBS doesn’t match up well with CC or PC and that’s going to hurt them later on.

That area has always been tough. They are down a little this year for their standards but it wouldn’t suprise me one of them in the District get hot and win it all. Single A is down statewide, IMO. Teams are well coached in that District and have been in Murfreesboro a bunch. Loretto got hot last year. Macon County got hot. Never know who will get hot.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
