Heritage hires former UT Coach Joe Osovet

wonder how you put together a staff... I mean that genuinely. blount county schools aren't paying teachers excessively and coaching supplements are not even raising an eyebrow. i'm not so sure there are other former college assistants, let alone other high school coaches wanting to take large pay cuts (among other issues) to try to help this program. i hope for the players that i'm wrong.

this will be interesting to watch. honestly, i just wish the best for the student athletes at heritage.

I do realize your biggest concern is that everyone says he'll leave after the first year. If it will help you any I used to date a very nice looking woman that was a crazy bi polar nut case and everyone would say she'll leave after she runs through your money in about a year. Well they were all wrong, it was four years so don't let others force their opinions on you.

honestly, I really hope everything turns around for everybody in the county schools. I was concerned for whoever took this position. it's deeper than the actual coach.

like you said, emergency CPR... I guess we'll see what happens.

Hiring a staff has and will continue to be an issue. Coaches who teach can make more at any other school district in the area. Non faculty coaches also have better options. They might get two or three coaches back from last season so there’s a lot of work to be done.

That's what happens when you elect  a fireman to come in and run the county and rob one department that's making money and giving to another that don't. Saw his picture on the front page of the Daily Fish Wrap a few weeks ago in the new Heritage Football locker room. I believe that was the night I had that dream a new coach came in and turned Heritage around and won the state and there he was on the front page again holding the trophy with the new coach with the team in the background.

It was interesting that the photo of him in the new field house had no coaches in it.  Just a bunch of his buddies patting themselves on the back for having one of their friends build an over budget, undersized, poorly planned facility years after it should have been done.

I was in the state of shock when he missed the photo at William Blount science wing that was in the paper. All I could think was how did he do that.

    • I believe that was last year. I was interested in the Jones vs Baker comment, so I went back and looked at GC. I am not a fan of either nor am I a baseball guru. This looks like to me the duel was not close and if the errors would not have been made Eagleville would have won. I assume you are a little biased. I do think your mph for Jeffcoat and Baker must be from last year.  Baker-85 pitches 67 strikes. 5.2 innings, 5H, 1BB, 0ER and 7K's. 3 errors  Jones- 78 pitches 37 strikes. 4 innings, 2H, 5BB, 0ER and 1K. 1 error   Adams and the UH kid are really good as well. What about South Pitt and Oakdale? I heard they have some good ones.
    • I hate this for all the kids in the program and fans alike. I can't recall of anything like this before in my lifetime but I'm sure it isn't a first. After criminal investigations are complete and the TSSAA looks into this the program it will be facing Nuclear Winter for some time to come. It's always the innocent left behind that end up paying the price for something someone else has done. I'm sure the transfer portal will be very active in Clinton over the summer months. How could you find a good coach worth his salt that would take on a situation like this not knowing what will happen.
    • I’ve seen Jeffcoat in person twice and he was 84-87 both times and the one time I saw Baker he was low 80’s, he actually got out dueled by Jones from ER in that outing.
    • Pirate fans, thread is up on the baseball message board.
