How are the girls in Oneida doing? Coach West is a great coach and I always follow the Indians, boys and girls.

I beleive this is the worst girls team I have seen in 20 years.

Bitter are we?? Oneida is not the worst team I have saw in the past 20yrs. If they happen to be the worst team you have watched in the past 20yrs then its clear you haven't watched very many contests.

 

The Lady Indians are a young squad this season. Give this team some time to mature and we'll see what happens. I mean, dang, they only lost their top 3 horses in Jackson--Carson-Newman, McDonald--Wesleyan, and Terry, so...this squad will be around in the end. After an 0-5 start, the Lady Indians have beaten district oppenents Oakdale by 7 or so points and Wartburg by 16 or so points---no slouches by any means.

 

Yes, the Lady Indians do have some talent back in their PG Brittany Creech, a post player--Alisha Abbott, 2 wings--Tristan Bond and Heather Caldwell, and a back-up PG--Aimee Anderson.

 

The Lady Indians opened the season with a 5pt loss to 2A Sweetwater like 52-47, Anderson County laid the smack down in the 3nd half by about 38pts--it was close at the break, Clarkrange, a solid 1A team that beat Jackson County, only knocked Oneida off by 8pts--using a late surge, District 3 preseason favorite Cosby used a 10pt advantage at Harriman in downing the Lady Indians 47-35, and DCA beat Oneida by 38pts. SO..3 of the 5 losses have been very, very close. With 2 wins in a row, the Lady Indians are now 2-5 with a contest at Coalfield looming on the horizon Tuesday night.

Oneida beat Wartburg by about 10-15 pts. Not 4. The boys game was lost by Oneida by about 4 though.

Give Oneida girls a lot of credit. They played well last night and outplayed Wartburg. I picked Oneida #5 in the district in the pre-season, and so far they have knocked off two teams I had ranked above them. The Lady Indians are not loaded with a lot of talent, but they play hard, and they play with poise. Coach West is doing a very good job up there this season.
