This will be an interesting matchup to say the least. I have watched GP most of the year. They are a very balanced team (seasoned posts and talented guards) that is well coached. GP also has a lot of recent experience at the state tournament and that cannot be overlooked. Their defense is very solid and multiple (different presses, man to man, and zones mixed). After watching a few McMinn Central games on film, I feel like I just described them in my GP analysis. All of the above applies to MC, too. Haha!  Each team has a standout player #30 for GP and #5 for MC. I believe it will be a classic game between two good teams. I truly think it could go either way.

Stopping #5 for McMinn Central is a task, just as I'm sure it is stopping #30 for G-P.  McMinn Central's "other" girls can kill you if G-P doubles #5.
Both teams earned their way here, though I think G-P had the tougher road getting here with their stronger district and region. Should be a great game.

For a team without a single senior I wonder how strong mcminn central will be next year! I went to both county and Central, so I'm proud of both of my former schools

I think Central will be the preseason favorite to win it all next year, especially with two incoming freshmen stars who just won a Middle School State Championship,

And those are just the englewood girls, ton of talent from mtn view as well. Usually girls from Riceville, niota, Athens, will come to Central their freshmen  year to play basketball. It was really odd bc In high school, I went to both school and when I moved to central junior year about 30 other people followed me not literally, but we all moved mid way thru High school and it wasn't even for athletics half the time.

    • RR, you might remember. Didn’t someone hide the kicking shoe that game? It seems I remember we had missed a kick the week before, and we needed all the points we could get. We thought we had a better chance going for two, so $?&@$ hid the shoe after the first miss that game. No one on our sideline looked for it very hard.
    • I will never forget the 1983 Heritage vs Maryville game. I remember driving home and listening to WGAP. Can't remember the announcers name. He asked Coach Story why he kept going for 2? Story told him " Why didn't you ask Renfro that last year"
    • TSSAA will let them all go to Mase.
    • Well nothing new, the Mustangs are really talented again this coming season!  They very well could go undefeated in regular season.  We shall see what happens in postseason.  I think the path to state title game is a little clearer than years past.  I think the Stangs are going to be really good and I think the traditional teams around in 2A are not going to be as strong.  It should be a fun season!
