True. However, the sad thing is the administration in small schools seem to spendy money on everything but athletics. I know it's definitely a choice. Lake county's high school football field hasn't had any major upgrades since the last concession stand was built in the mid 1990s. Horrible sound system, death cable still intact around the field. At the same time the high school and middle school basketball courts have been replaced and refinished multiple times. I just don't understand it when football is our cash cow here.

That's a fair point. Were the same way. But let's be honest if a HC is that desired and a small school increases their offer a bigger school can still do the same. A small schools best bet is if they can hire an alumnus who loves the area

Hunter Short was named head coach.Hopefully he will do well. Was hoping LC wouldn't stay in house with the coaches they had at the high school.Saw some pretty bad play calling last year and one that stands out was LC going for first down on about 4th and 23 and not at midfield and wasn't because game was on the line at that time.Congrats to him though and hopefully he does well.

Comfortable hire for the good ole boy system.  Same ole boring offense coming up yayyyyy smh. Mike Moore is a joke! The only people excited in LC about this hire is his family and the people that don't know squat about football

I think they nailed it tbh. An LC guy that the kids are familiar with. This feels like it was obvious. I feel like the comfortable hire isn’t always a bad hire.
Idk where the “boring” offense comes into play. They ran the same plays and offense the entire state year too, but no one complained.
With the lower level of talent there as they’ve had in the past few years, they just needed a guy that’s going to come in and work hard at his job that has some pride about the county.
if you’re expecting state championships with what they’ve had the past 2 years, you just don’t understand unfortunately.

    • Did this happen? Does anyone know? Ripley has their HC job posted on the bulletin board over the weekend.
    • Coalfield definitely isn't the same team they've had the past few years. They are still the favorites to make it out of their region because of their pitching. They have 1 arm that sits low to mid 80s and 2 other arms that are mid to high 70s with good off speed stuff. If you can avoid their top 3 bats in their lineup then you have a shot to beat them. Their 4-9 hitters are average at best. Wartburg's ace was able to shut them down last week in the game Wartburg won 4-2.
    • It is the longest season. Plus, 30 games a year. No Christmas break. I would say basketball is the most time consuming.
