KIL High School feeder programs

In regrads to feeder programs, does anyone see this as a major problem with Knoxville area schools (KIL) being competitive on a regional and state basis? You've got kids from Holston going to 3 different high schools, kids from South-Doyle middle to 3, Northwest to 3, Bearden to 2, Cedar Bluff to 3, West Valley to 2, etc. About the only MS's that all go to the same high school are Karns, Farragut, Halls, and Carter. Not surprisingly, those are 4 of your more competitive KIL schools. A-E obviously has the advantage of being a magnet school. The KIL schools that get the "split up" kids, often struggle outside of KIL. When you look at outlying, yet smaller, areas like Blount Co, OR, Clinton, Sevier Co, etc, the middle schools there feed one high school exclusively. After having coached AAU and fall league several years now and beginning to coach HS, this seems to be perhaps the #1 reason Knoxville can't compete. Kids that play together in MS (and AAU) often get split up at high school, so the talent gets significantly diluted. And, what good does it do a high school coach to work closely with a middle school coach on keeping things consistent so the transition is smooth if 2/3 of those MS kids aren't even coming their way? Obviously, this is not very likely to change. Since it's this way, I don't see much consistent regional/state action for KIL teams anytime soon despite some great players and coaches in these schools.

    • Problem with DB football goes beyond coaching. Like Waco said. Thr band is the main focus of their community and school. They have the resources to be a championship level team. Guarantee Ballard or Witten could have them nationally relevant at some point but everyone down to peewee would have to buy in and at DB we all know that would never happen.
    • I know the RB from OR he’s fast and has good hands. Is good on special teams also. Didn’t want to play defense over to the Ridge.
    • Lieutenant Flip flops is on a roll. #1 recruiter in Anderson Co, fo-sho.
    • Has there been any effort to contact college coaches other than Trevecca?
    • 5star put out and article about the QB competition for Clinton like they have 9 other schools. They listed a QB that was previously on Powell’s roster last year. He was the Frosh that could throw great wearing number 5. He was not mentioned as a transfer.  HC was quoted in getting two running back transfers one being from OR that has been mentioned on these boards as well as another from TKA.  I had heard about these and more transfers. It is impressive that Clinton is able to steal away from the recruiter at Powell.  I wonder if the issue with the principal will change that or open the gates even more.
