144 is an interesting final 🤣🤣🤣

HA....Agree. Dylan and Cam are fun to watch and I'll bet that will be the final at 144. Cam is squirrelly!

Also interested in semi-final at 165. Not sure Mason beats Titus twice but should be a fun one to watch.

Team race will probably be between Baylor and FRyan. Not sure we can get it done this year as several of our guys that could have made finals are on the wrong side. Excited for it all though!

Ryan looks to have 5 title locks (Tran, Hare, Gobbell, Roark, and Deane). Baylor's 114,132,215, and 285 will be out early. I think Mccallie can put up enough points in the consis to have a shot at pulling out the win.

Sounded like Pat Simpson thought he had this one in the bag in the chattanoogan article this morning. Incredible job in the consis by Baylor. Very impressive without Hunter

Father Ryan Leading Baylor In D-II State Wrestling - Chattanoogan.com

Just my opinion but I don’t feel “Pat Simpson thought he had this one in the bag” based on his quote from the Chattanoogan Article you linked. Ryan went 2-6 in the backside on day 2, lost 113 finals to BA and dropped 2/3 in the head to head finals matches against Baylor. Baylor picked up some key wins on the backside and finished strong, great tournament by Baylor, they earned it. Simpson stated “We need to show up and perform” and “tomorrow should be fun.” I don’t believe Simpson would ever say or think he had it in the bag as you say, Simpson has been around long enough to know better. Congrats to all the wrestlers and teams who earned their spot in the tournament and on the podium. I don’t believe anyone felt they had it in the bag!

"We got some help from other teams and we're to the point where we just need to close the deal. We

meet Baylor three times in the finals and that

might determine who wins, but it's still anybody's tournament. We just have to show up and

perform. We had a really bad state duals tournament, but maybe that was the wakeup call we needed. But tomorrow should be fun," he added.

I predict that Chancery Deane's parents will not be missed.

I’d say your prediction is accurate but I do hope we get to see that match again at Prep Nationals next week. The match itself was a great match and exciting to watch.

That's a fair take. I have nothing but respect for Simpson and his tenure at Father Ryan. Maybe the reporters statement of "seeing the lights at the end of the tunnel" made me misinterpret his statement.  Regardless great weekend of wrestling and congrats to all. Hopefully we see some rematches at prep nationals.

    • Not sure how many officials Jackson has sent to state because I can honestly careless about D-2 basketball, unless USJ or TCA participates in the state championship in Cookeville. However, in the last 3 years, Jackson had sent officials that have all officiated the boys tournament in Murfressboro. Obviously, they can't call the girls state tournament games that involved the "Jackson schools" that are in the association, but not sure why they've done the boys and not the girls. But there hasn't been an official that has participated in the girls tournament that I'm not familiar with in terms of names.
    • There was one bald young white guy. Not sure where he was from, but he was the absolute worse.
    • The west tennessee association officials, one was at D2 tournament and two were at D1 boys. Not sure why none had girls.
    • Actually, I was there, and I agree, officials were terrible for girls and boys. In my opinion, 3 or 4 players should not foul out in a game on that stage. However, I stand by South Gibson will struggle until they can score. Thats just my assessment and opinion. As good as Dunn is, she's not a point guard and her being the primary ball handler has taken away from her scoring which they need.
