Engel Stadium used to be a great atmosphere for baseball and a park with tremendous character -- That was only a few short years ago. Prior to last year's state championships, I heard about all of the renovations TSSAA made to the stadium and thought that everyone was going to be in for a real treat. I could not have been more wrong! That place looked extremely generic. Why would anyone want to cover all the great ads on the outfield wall with countless gallons of green paint? Playing for a state championship last season was still thrilling, but it just felt like there was something missing. That something was the character that had been extracted from Engel.
