WHAT WILL MORRISTOWN WEST HAVE THIS YEAR?

Morristown West finished sixth in the state last year and will return 8-of-9 starters. The downfall to that is they lost three college pitchers (Hite-Carson Newman, McClellan - Hiwassee, and Dougherty - Old Dominion). The bright side is the returnees of all-state first baseman Matt Spencer (the only all-state sophomore last year) All-Northeast Tn studs - Matt Noe, Lance Wild, and Matt Martin. They have three other all-conference players. They set a school record for wins last year in AAA, but they could easily surpass that this year. Pitching is deep (Isom, Campbell, Southerland, Wild, Spencer, Noe). VERY STRONG TEAM. They are coached by Bobby Haun, Chuck Stansberry, and Chris Ayers. Will they beat East? Yes. Can East beat West. Yes. Both teams are real strong because of East's pitching. But, I would put the bucks on West.

Dougherty went to Old Dominion trucking industry, not Old Dominion U. The team does have alot of pitchers back this year, but throwing strikes and consistency will have to be a must for them. Coach Haun, Coach Stansberry, and Coach Ayers should have this team ready to go. They should be a good hitting team, and solid defensively. As far as the East game, you can throw ability level and past season out the window, it's always a dog fight. Best of luck to the Trojans this year.
