Rhea county has set their goals high this year. They are not just working to win the district and the region, their minds are set on the state tournament as well. They have a strong starting lineup with six seniors. Behind the plate is Matt Hill. Will Newman with his Rocket arm at third . Brent Rucker still the short stop after three good years. Daniel Shaver at first and likely to be on the mound. Josh Smith and Michael Walters in the outfield with 60's under 7.0. I would say they will have a dominate year.

Too bad Rhea isn't the team to beat. McMinn and Cleveland are.

 

McMinn has Ray, Breaux, Brown, and Chamlee

 

Cleveland has Westfield, Barber, Morrow and maybe Carver

Well both of those teams are scheduled , maybe you can come see for yourself.Lavonte Barber doesnt even play baseball.

He was a 2002 Sunbelt selection in the OF last year and has played summer baseball for the Knoxville Yard Dogs for a long time. He is a "very good" prospect in baseball as well as football.

Lavonte hasn't quit. He can't practice baseball right now because he's on the basketball team and they are still in the playoffs.

oh,well glad that is straightened up. Rhea's game against ooltewah today has been canceled, ooltewah called and said they couldnt make the trip but the Walker Valley game is still on at 5:30 assuming the field will be playable they have been working on getting the water off all morning

Tonite in the Golden Eagle classic ,Rhea started out good and beat Ooltewah 4-0 and then they lost 1-0 to Walker Valley highschool. This was a tough loss for the eagles it was a game they feel they could have won. They gave up 1 run in the 4th inning when they made 3 errors . Rhea never got the bats going ,but they hope to swing better tommorow morning against the Red Bank lions at 10:45 at Rhea County highschool at Jim Rankin field.

Rhea Co. had a bad night against the Soddy Daisy Trojans tues. in a scrimmage game the took a pounding . They look to come back strong and win the Rockwood preseason tournament. There 3rd baseman was injured last night laying out for a catch. This senior was hitting the best on the team this will set back the eagles for a few weeks,but he is only one player the eagles have lots of depth.
