Me and my girls think that #10 Chase Stephens should definitley be one of the finalists at least for all that talent that this guys got! He might lack common sense off the court but hey, it's what happens on the court that matters! He might act half retarded in class but does that stop those 3 pointers? NOPE! Even that adorable face he makes when he gets fouled.. it's so innocent looking! So go to the Temple game tonight and see if this is really what he's about. We love you Chase.. don't kill us!

J'mont Gordon on the 16U Charles Davis team. This kid scores anytime he wants to. Saw him play against John Richardsons team last week at Mcgavok high school. It didn't matter that he was playing against against bigger and older kids. This kid is special. Fearless penetrator..brought it in against Gardner of Maplewood who is five or six inches taller. Very good at the foul line. Shoots the three well also. I don't know about any of the baggage some people says he brings, all I know is what I saw on the court. He is as good as the kid from Giles. Probably more potent offensively. I would say in high school he probably gets all the junk defenses thrown at him and if he doesn't have a supporting cast it impacts their success. In AAU it is a different story. The Charles Davis team had a lot of other kids that were scoring also. Do yourself a favor and watch this kid play. It is a treat. At his age he is as good as Hare, Harris, and Williams. No one can give you the inside and outside game like he can. I would say Charles Davis has a winner with him and what better mentor to have than Charles. He has given so much back to the community. From what I have seen he appears to have his heart in the right place. I would think he could confide in Charles, since he made it to the top.

Slight changes on mine...

AAA

-Henry Harris

-Shawne Williams

-Reiley Ervin, White Station

-Justin Hare, Bradley

These four all have a LEGIT shot at being a finalist, and Ervin and Hare will meet again in the State Finals. Riverdale's LaBrian Lyons has a chance as a sleeper.

AA

-Corey Brewer, Portland

-Tyler Smith, Giles Co

-Andre Allen, BTW

-Willie Kemp, Bolivar

Even with some other great players, and the fact that Kemp may be the best in ALL of AA, the 3 finalists will be Brewer, Smith, and Allen, barring a SHOCKER

A

-Jamar Jenkins, Forrest

-Daniel Puckett, McEwen

-Thaddeous Young, Mitchell

This is counting Xavier Webb to be transferring, likely to a AA school. Rusty Chambers has a shot, too.

After discussing the issue with someone who knows more about how the process works here in your state I have decided that the Hare kid will probably win the honors in AAA. It appears the votes go with the higher profile teams. From the consensus out there, Bradley Central will be strong as ever next year. I also found out his older brother was a former Mr. Basketball finalist a few years ago. Change my vote for Hare.
