White County Softball vs Basketball

I have a daughter that plays softball for WCHS and I also have another daughter that plays basketball for the school. I am amazed at the differences that are made between these two sports when it comes to money. The basketball team seems to get everything handed to them on a silver platter and the softball team ends up eating the left overs. These girls work hard too and deserve at the very least close to the same treatment. Does anyone else see this happening?

I would like to see as much dedication to our softball program as we have in the basketball program from everyone involved. There are too many excuses not to practice or play during the spring season. I don't have a problem with school trips, sicknesses, and such. Some people carry some things way too far. As far as winning seasons go, our softball program does better, for now. Things could change.

govolz, you mean that all these big tournaments that

charge $150 to $250+ for team entry fees, and charge $5-15

and up for spectators to get in, do not generate revenue?

also, softball teams don't generate revenue by all

kinds of fundraisers? why, I know of one team that has

generated about $24000 this year, others have more.

I think that I would have to re-consider softball not being

a revenue generating sport. True, a lot of teams don't

bring in as much as others, but there are some that pay

their own way, then give some back to the school.

There are a lot of football and basketball teams that

don't pay their own way, not to mention giving anything

back to their schools.

:(
