Oakland Win Brentwood Classic

Oakland wins The Brentwood Classic going 2-1 in pool play but only allowing 4 runs and then beat Brentwood High School 14-0 in the Championship game. Matt Northcutt hit .700 with a home run and six rbi and was named MVP of the tournament.

I went to the championship game between those two teams and Oakland dominated them the whole entire game. Brentwood acted as if they hadnt played baseball in years. Oakland also ripped Brentwood's pitchers face all over the field. Oakland's shortstop hit a line drive in the gap that hit the wall in like 3 seconds and probably left a dent in the wall.

well i dont go to either school, but i do know that bhs did not throw their best pitcher, actually i think they threw their number 7 pitcher who hasnt pitched all year. this was a pretty flawed tourny cus no one was throwing their best pitchers. just getting everyone ready for region play.

The pitching may have been used up oakland threw a sophmore in only his second start. But where were the bats? They surely didn't play there # 7th String batters did they?

teams used their pitchers, Brentwood pitched Lee. I think he is their number one, so they certainly didn't save him.

Brentwood Academy did pretty well at the tourney considering who they pitched...

 

In the first game BA beat Oakland 4-1 with their #6 guy, Sophomore Brad Bowker, who was pitching in his second game all year. The Patriot pitcher played well, but the Eagles took advantage of their opportunities and won the game.

 

In the second game BA lost to Shades Valley (AL) 12-2. BA was pretty flat from their first game, and pitched their #5 guy, who the Mounties hit pretty hard. It was not the best of games for the Eagles, but was indicative of the tournament's fickle nature.

 

Saturday morning at 9:00 BA defeated Apollo (KY) 5-2 with the left fielder, Kyle Willis, in at pitcher. Willis had never pitched a high school game, but held the Eagles of Apollo to 2 hits and 0 earned runs. A good game for BA.

 

Brentwood Academy finished things up in the 3rd-place game with a 10-4 win over the Lions of Columbia High School. Columbia had 4 tremendous hitters (including SS Bobby Bratton and 1B Grant Nickell), but was clearly not pitching one of their better arms. BA hit CHS hard and won 3rd place.

 

The Eagles play Father Ryan Tuesday, MBA Wednesday, Blackman Thursday, and St. Xavier (OH) Saturday. It'll be a tough week, but BA is ready.
