  1. I'll go with my top five David 5) 2005 Game 1- RHS scores 8 in ther first only to see OHS have the winning run at the plate in the seventh. 4) 2002 District Tournamnet at Riverdale. Sophomore Brad Robinson gets the start on the hill pitches 3 innings then gives way to Freshman Rusty Howard who allowed no earned runs and struck out five . OHS has lost big to RHS in the first two meetings. RHS wins, but only 5-4 and OHS goes on to beat RHS twice for District Tournament Championship. 3)2004 District Tournament Championship. Tied 2-2 after seven and OHS wins in the 8th 2) 2001 District Tourment in Warren Co Game Two. Oakland had beat Riverdale badly in the first game of the tourmament and had this game won when the final out was miss played by OHS and RHS went on the win. 1) 2001 District Tournmament in Warren Co. Game Three. It ended at 2AM with OHS winning on the score board but they had violated a pitching rule and the game was awarded to RHS.
  2. Our thoughts and prays from the Boro.
  3. One other thing about this game. It was great to see the two team battle and play hard down to the last out, but it was also great to see them stand in the middle of the field in small groups after the game and cut-up with each other. We all could learn something from them!!!
  4. WOW What a game!! Will Underland threw GREAT!! Oakland did battle back. P J Polk and Drew Fann go 2-3 for Oakland and Rusty Howard doubled and drove in three for OHS. Underland 2-4 with a triple, and Cody Harrel 2-4 with a HR for RHS. I hope tomorrow game is this good maybe with the other team winning??
  5. Game Time, We are just a young team. We will have two Seniors on the field tonight. Tye McCleary pitching and Rusty Howard at third. They both have really stepped up their games with the loss of Watson and Patterson. Both are hitting over .450 since we got back from Knoville. Cory Sorgenfrei, also a senior will be the DH and has hit well and Mitch Warren, our loan junior has played soild. But we will start three freshman and three sophomore in the field. They are all good ball players but nothing really prepares you for District 7AAA play. All the travel teams and summer programs around just can't do that. Long term this will make OHS a force to deal with but for now we are still learning. These kids have played the butts off and have battled all year through some really strange stuff. Will Underland and Justin Jones are four year starters at RHS and I think you will agree that they have gotten better every year. But the were surround by a host of upper classman their freshman and sophomore years. They were "roll player" and good ones, but did not have to play great every game. Although Will made a big splash on ther mound his freshman year. I am not making excuses just stating facts. With all that said it is still Oakland vs Riverdale and I think we will see two good games. Both are well coached and will play hard.
  6. I agree with David. You can throw out the records when these two play each other in any sport. Riverdale should win on paper. Will Underland has been beating Oakland for four years now and should have in down pat. But Oakland could rebound their season with a win or wins against Riverdale and Siegel and head into the tournament on a high note. It should be good games!! Y'all Come!!!!!!!!
  7. I'm not sure. although I think Jason Sharper who hit last had 5 of 6 home runs. And Casey Roshenburger (sp) had a 32 game hitting streak., let see if I can remember the batting line up? 1) Chuck Acres-CF 2) Jeremy Sladen-RF 3 Brennan King-SS 4) Casey Roshenburger-3B 5) Jerry Knox-DH 6) Shane Vaughn- 2B 7) Blaylock- C 8) Jeremy Wilson-LF 9) Jason Sharber-1B Pitcher Jerry Knox Brennan King John Williams Jason Sharper Patrick Hicklin Stevie Klein WOW What a team!!! On the bench Tommy Smith, Caleb Barrett.
  8. Cookeville is a well Coached team and always plays hard. I think Oakland has turn a corner in the season. The bats are heating up and the defense has come around. If Tye McCleary (3-1 1.19 ERA and 26k's in 29 innings) and Rusty Howard (3-0 2.40 ERA and 28k's in 23 Innings) keep throwing strikes Oakland will have a chance. But winning on the road in 7AAA is very hard to do. I look for a great series from these two teams.
  9. Oakland's game with White Co will start at 5:30 PM.
  10. Murfreesboro is blessed with some good baseball players and good baseball coaches. I'm not going to get into "who is the best" but I'll tell you if you asked any of them their best coach years was a year when the talent was down and they still competed. Coaching in Murfreesboro is not easy and Oakland is where the bench mark starts. The wins, the tradition, the players that is where it starts and Coach Hawks has been there for the whole run. I think Oakland is in pretty good hands.
  11. I have been watching Oakland baseball for years and except for the the 2000 team this may be the best bunch of kids as far as getting along with each other and being "team" players and supporting each other. I think it's important that no one on the team is pointing fingers but instead they are coming together. Playing at Oakland comes with it's pressure but so does playing Riverdale, Cookeville, Warren Co.etc... All these kids at all these schools love the game and play hard every night. They are all trying to live up to the player that have played before them. But when they don't that's when they need us. Us being the fans, the parents, and the coaches because we all know where there heart is!! Oakland will be OK. Best of luck to all but like coach21 said except when you play us!!
  12. Oakland plays Science Hill at 2:30 @ UT, then Faragutt at 7:00 on Friday Oakland then plays Morristown West on Saturday at 12:30
  13. Here is mine 1. Blake Patterson- Good Speed, good contact hitter to all fields with some power. 2. Tyler Burnett- handles the bat well also has some pop in his bat 3. Steven Watson- best hitter on the team 4. Rusty Howard- hitting four will not change his approach to hitting. Hit .454 in the preseason 5. Mitch Warren- POWER!!! had two long home runs in preseason and led the team in rbi 6. Drew Fann- he will hit and with some power as well also handles the bat well. 7. Tye McCleary- in the seven whole he will see more fast balls 8. Matt Taylor/ Cory Sorgenfrei- Taylor contact and speed, Sorgenfrei power 9. P J Polk- speed to burn. After the first time around he will be like another lead off hitter. Pitchers 1 Tye McCleary 2 Josh Farmer 3 Rusty Howard 4 Tyler Bowman 5 Andy Berg 6 Brenndan Stender 7 Eric Renfro
