Farragut vs. Bearden...Let's talk

I don't see much point in being critical of Farragut or Bearden to promote the comparison to Christian Brothers. None of the three teams are weak in any significant respect--especially when talking about high school teams. Moreover, games between CBHS and the two AAA powers weren't played so, who knows what would have happened. That said, however, having observed Christian Brothers v. MBA and Catholic and having watched 5 Farragut matches and 6 Bearden matches this season, these three teams are, obviously, all at the very top of the state.

CBHS is, in my opinion, just as good as Farragut and Bearden, in some respects better, in some weaker. I understand, there are six Div. 1 college signees on the CBHS roster. NO other school in the state has that much senior soccer talent this year. They were fast, skilled, well coached and well versed at "gamesmanship", which they used effectively to their advantage against Knox Catholic in the DII semis.

Nationally, the pollsters rank the three : Farragut (3), CBHS (6) and Bearden (15) ---from where I'm sitting, that's not a lot of difference in quality. There would be no sure money in a match between the Brothers and either the Admirals or the Dogs; however, I would bet, modestly, on Christian Brothers if the games were played. I'm sure Farragut and Bearden fans see this differently. Suffice it to say, these three are significantly better than any other team in any division in Tennessee. No team in Div I A/AA is as strong.

Seldon...u might be correct...i only had the pleasure of seeing Farragut play once this year...i was just speaking on my previous experience with them as now I am a college soccer guy...perhaps it was just the way the game that I saw against Bearden was played...I really am not trying to take anything away from Farragut because I do think that they are an amazing team...i just think that CB was equally as talented as Farragut was this year.

    • That’s a good line. Wins would be Soddy, Howard, and Ooltewah. Maybe East Ham again or Knox Central. Tyner maybe but being that late in the year it’s hard to say. I don’t think we get by Red Bank this year.    Rhea could be anywhere from 2-8 to 6-4.
    • I agree with the Farragut and Bradley claim. Those will both be wins. Bearden like you say is depending on when you get them in comparison to when the wheels fall off.  As far as West goes I’m 50-50. They have been able to reload so far so until they show me they haven’t I can’t count them out.
    • during the 2nd round of the playoffs last year against Milan, Gray partially tore his meniscus. He had a minor repair around Thanksgiving. Recovery time was minimal and he has been full force for baseball this season.
    • What do ya’ll think the O/U will be? I would set the line at 2.5
    • Playing high school sports is a privilege not a right.  The college did not have to rescind the scholarship.  Scholarship offers are pulled all the time for a number of reasons. That was 100% their choice.  A coach can keep, cut, or dismiss any player that they want to without reason anytime they want.  Is that the right way to run a program?? I don't think that it is, but these are the facts of the matter. This case has absolutely 0% chance of going in the plaintiff's favor. Futhermore, I'd imagine that these administrators and the coach are a part of some teaching or coaching organization that will cover at least 1 million dollars each in legal fees. Obviously the kid and her family feel like there were "damages" thus the lawsuit.  Unfortunately, the law is not on their side in this case.
