according to knox preps, mccord only had around 800 yards. i think he ended the year close to 1000. and im pretty sure that carl barely hit the 1500 mark.

Mccord probably did have over 1,000 by the end of week 15. Of course in many games he and Carl both were pulled by halftime due to blowouts. I would have loved to see what Carl would put up with four quarters every game. Of course pulling him keeps him healthy and builds depth. I would say at the mid way point of last season Antonio Byner had as many if not more carries than Carl did. Of course that changed as the season went on.

Thanks CoachGarret! I didn't have a stat sheet handy so i had to guesstamate what is was, thanks! Cassen is a great kid and is going to excell in academics and athletics. I hope to see him rush for 1500 or more yards this year, i think he is definetly capable of reaching that mark.

Chris didn't quite pull out 1500, okay he wasn't even close. Chris got around 1,000, but he was pulled at halftime in most instances and was running with Carl Stewart, not behind. They both had about the same amount of carries, and if I'm not mistaken I think Chris actually had more. Chris and Carl complimented one another with their contrasting styles and with one blocking for the other it really helped. I don't really see another Carl Stewart type in Maryville's backfield, most are more like Chris. Antonio Byner is close to being Carl, but his short size may make him more of a shifty runner (He's still awesome). Maryville's 3rd string running back (his name has slipped my mind) is a bit of a power runner, but only through the tackles. He would make a good 3rd down back because he can find the hole and explode through it, but once he gets in the open field he has a little more trouble. So with the two other running backs having the same style it may be easier for them to pick up and adjust. Instead of relying on the differing running game we may have to require a good enough passing game to throw off the defense, probably not a problem though!

    • Dyersburg is going to be good, really good. As mentioned, they have a lot of talent on the way and the trio of Chelby, Joya, and KayKay will only be better with a full season together under their belt. To me, playing in Murfreesboro two consecutive postseasons will only serve to make them more dangerous if/when they stand among the final eight teams this March. Experience, good or bad, always makes you better. And not only do they have experience, they know how to win there. Schedules are coming together for all of the teams and I am excited about what I am seeing on the preliminary drafts on Dyersburg’s schedule. I know I am being a tease, but it’s simply not my place to announce what another school is doing. With that said, I won’t go into specifics. However, I am excited about renewed home and away contracts for the non-district portion of the calendar. I think west Tennessee will have a lot of interest as well.
    • What does everyone have in the final 8? In no particular order. 1. Eagleville 2. Gordonsville 3. Greenback 4. Oakdale 5. South Pitt/ East Robertson-- not sure 6. Richland 7. Halls 8. Union City
    • They struggled to field a team last year. I don’t see them being much better?
    • sx good two know thay didun't waint that entarr citty two see yeller/red......
    • Couldn’t agree more.. Tate is a special kinda player , but fortunately for us we get a best of 3 series. I think our pitching is better than last year when we made the trip to west tn. Should be a fun 2 or 3 games.
