In Region 3-5A Friday, September 5th there will be two games on the slate and in the region. Warren County and Lincoln County have the night off!!

Let's take a look at what we got.

FRANKLIN COUNTY AT CUMBERLAND COUNTY

The Rebels come into the game with it's first victory over Tullahoma in seven years. The Rebels dominated John Olive's Wildcats to the tune of 35-0!! The Rebels looked solid two weeks ago in a 1-point loss to Division II power, Father Ryan. Franklin County lost to the Jets of Cumberland County last season. Will the new Rebels be able to uphend the soaring Jets of Cumberland County?? The Jets host the Rebels. Cumberland County comes into the game at 2-0 with a solid come from behind victory over Region 2-5A power, McMinn County. Unknowns were the theme of CC's game last night against Wilson Central. The Lebanon-based high school has now lost 21 straight being 0-21 in their football team's entire two seasons one week history. Because they are fairly new, the Jets didn't know what to expect. And because Cumberland County has alot of new talent, Wilson Central couldn't predict what they would do. This Region 3-5A clash presents two really solid defenses. Franklin County has not seen this good of a defense this year. And the same can be said to Cumberland County. Expect a low-scoring game.

Prediction: Cumberland County 16 Franklin County 13

COOKEVILLE AT COFFEE COUNTY

Cookeville knocked off White County last night for the ump-teenth cosecutive time. Of course the Cavaliers will now have to face the resurgent Coffee County Red Raiders. Last season the Red Raiders hand Cookeville their only blemish in Region 3-5A. One reason why that happened was Cookeville's inability to stop the rush which seemed to be the theme last night against White County. Coffee County comes in with a revamped coaching staff and a new lease on life after crushing new Mufreesboro-Siegel 50-19. At home and with what clearly looks like a very explosive rushing game, can the Raiders make it two in a roll against the Cookeville Cavaliers and move to 2-0 on the season for the first time since 1997?? Expect alot of rushing yards for Coffee County and alot of passing yards for Cookeville. Coffee County's passing defense is their fall. Cookeville's rush defense is their fall.

Prediction: Coffee County 22 Cookeville 20

How will the final region standings look in Region 3-5A?

I figure

1st will be Lincoln County, but who will finish next?

I think that there is no doubt that Lincoln County deserves the nod as the favorite to win the region. Alot of polls would put Cookeville next. I think the Cavs are overrated and their performance against White County last weekend left much to be desired. I think Coffee County will sneak somewhere in the playoff picture and send one of three schools--Franklin County, Cookeville, or Cumberland County out of the playoffs. Warren County is doomed to finish last.

Coffee County has a favorable schedule with Cookeville and Cumberland County, Region 3-5A's #1 and #2 seed respectively from last season, coming to Manchester. Coffee County also has Lincoln County at home.
