I agree they should play they are so close and last years game was absolutely packed at Burke-Toney stadium so it is good from a money standpoint. My guess is that coach Frazier tried to soften up the schedule a bit from last years very difficult one to generate a winning atmosphere, and hopefully get more interest in football at east. It is hard to compete against very good 5A teams with so many players from east having to play both ways. My guess is that if coach Smith builds the east program back to a competitive level you will see the two square off in the future.

East has a lot of talent in Francisco and the rest of them I just think there are in the wrong class, there is no reason East should be 5a especially if west is 4a. The East/West/Jeff three way rivalry was a big thing in the area, almost like a little Jefferson/Hamblen League because Cocke County and other teams in the area cant hang with any of the 3.

East is 4A not 5A. I think they have around 1150-1200 students. I've heard Jeff is over 2000 this year.

If you will remember East scrimmaged Jeff in the Jamboree 21-7 in just 1 quarter.

The time will come in the future with coach Smith. I think that it was a great move on East part to get some wins to get the winning feelings back and to gain confidence. This schedule last for two years and then with the new East I believe they will be back. And know one questions the big time college programs when they do the same. Non conference games are ment to prepare for the conference games. Good job East and good luck.

Yes I was there also. The scary thing is that Jeff did this without perhaps the most explosive player in East TN. in Scooter Houston who did not play. Houston going wide, Jennings up the gut, and Parker Clement to Tyler Brown has to give opposing D-coordinators nightmares!

Yeah I agree We had to move Jeff out of our schedule to get the feel of Winning again. 4 wins in the last 3 years, 2 already this year, yeah we should have Jeff Co. back in the schedule before long. We've had 16 sacks in 2 games, our defensive line is incredible.
