Who are the second and third teams from that region?

Germantown and Central. On second thought, there really is no region that has three really good teams together. All the top teams at state are usually from different regions. McMinn - Region 3, Houston - 8, Bartlett - 7, Science Hill - 1, Bradley - 3 (McMinn killed them) Oak Ridge - 7.

When did Mcminn "KILL" BCHS? Just wondering? BCHS was 5th in the State last year, and then Mcminn was State Champs. That was a big victory but I wouldn't call it killing??? But I agree that Regions 7, and 8 and 3 are pretty tough for an individual-if you aren't on one of the better teams because the top 10 basically come from one or two teams with a couple of odd ones thrown in the mix!

I've essentially quit using this board because it seems that 99.9% of the folks on this board eat, sleep and breathe region 3 with no conception of what is going on statewide, so it is getting an extremely narrow point of view here. With all due respect to the Chattanooga area, who produced an excellent set of boys teams last year...Region 3 has never been considered that strong of a AAA cross country region at all. Traditionally (considering boys and girls simultaneously), it is region 2 that is the deepest every year. You have Farragut, who contends for the state title almost every year...Bearden, Knox West, and a team who has won multiple state titles: Oak Ridge. That region is stacked every year. All 3 of their teams usually finish in the top 10 of the state. Then you have region 1, with Dobyns-Bennett, Science Hill, and a lot of times Sullivan East gets in there. Out west, most Memphis people will agree that region 7 is usually much tougher than region 8. Sure, Houston is in 8, but the strength of 7 is usually very tough with Bartlett, Cordova, and Bolton who have finished top 10 in the state repeatedly. To be totally honest, regions 1,2 and 7,8 (east and west) are traditionally better than 3,4,5 and 6 (middle TN and Chattanooga). Again, I concede that Chattanooga had a big year amongst boys last year, but as far as recent history is concerned, the perimeter regions are simply better. Of course, on this board, I'm probably going to get torched for saying this, but it is statistically undeniable.

I'm pretty sure that everyone realizes that this is a weak region but we are developing slowly but surely. The only reason we discuss it so much is because everyone on here is from the Chattanooga area (as you stated) and we our each others competition untill State so it is convenient . We (Mcminn) are always talking about teams such as Houston, Science Hill, and Tullahoma amongst ourselves.. Dyestat is alwayz open when we have the erge to talk about the other regions .. I post there often under thekidnextdoor.. I totally agree that region 2 is the strongest.

    • Yeah they both should be good games whoever matches up with who. Wartburg has beaten Oliver Springs all 4 times they’ve played this year but they have been close games. I believe Wartburgs first sectional appearance was last year when they went to North Greene. Good luck to you all!
    • What did they do this year? Every other year, I’ve gone to one. It’s been a little scrimmage and then a bunch of games like a quarterback throwing challenge, O line versus D line, push-up challenge, etc.    But not surprised, nothing new that the program has been on the decline since they lost their recruiting middle school coach. The baseball coach still does his fair share, but he recruits good baseball players. Not good football players, and decent baseball players, definitely nothing like the middle school coach could do, he left for a middle school job down near Cleveland high school a few years back.
    • Never in my life have I seen a team in a scrimmage against their own defense look so lost and confused. The defense didn’t look much better, the coaching staff can’t keep their anger together, not only with the players but also with their other coaches. I feel awful for those players. None of them look like they wanted or should’ve been out there, but for the grown men on the sidelines acting like fools, it's just embarrassing to the Farragut name and reputation. I now see why they chose not to live stream this on their YouTube channel.
    • We could sure use some math teachers country wide. Ever go into a store or restaurant and the bill comes to $9.97 and you give them a ten dollar bill and 2 pennies because you wanted a nickle back and then the meltdown starts and the next thing two more people have to come and help figure it out and the place comes to a complete halt. I see this everyday and it's a sad representation of all these schools allowing these kids out the door to get shortchanged the rest of their life.
